Library Courier Jobs

Loudoun County Public Library is seeking to fill one (1) part-time regular Library Courier position. (Position is 15 hours per week).

This position must be able to interpret and apply rules and standards of the library in order to provide efficient services to library patrons and staff. Successful candidate will be responsible for driving the library courier box truck over 100 miles round trip to safely pick up and deliver books, media and equipment to eight library branches and Library Administration.

Job duties will include:

• Maintaining a working knowledge of the designated route, including city and town streets, roads and highways.
• Distributing mail and library materials.
• The demonstration of good driving techniques.
• Maintaining a valid driver's license.
• This position is also responsible for transporting furnishings, equipment for on-site and off-site library programs when needed, with minimal impact on the daily delivery schedule.
• Sorting book bins.
• Preparing Interlibrary Loan books for pickup.

The expected work hours for this position are 6:30 AM to 2:00 PM, and the work-days will vary Monday through Saturday.

Salary is commensurate with experience.

Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma.

Prefer one year of courier experience and customer service experience.

Experience driving a 26 foot box truck is highly preferred.

Ability to stoop, bend, reach and lift heavy objects filled with library materials, weighing up to 60 lbs. Ability to follow direction and adapt to changing conditions including exposure to the outside elements, including inclement weather. Comply with County Motor Pool servicing schedule and transporting all assigned County vehicles to the County garage for fueling and servicing.
