The part time Library Circulation Attendant I provide direct customer service in person, via telephone, or email and performs a variety of clerical tasks at one of the library branch locations. They issue library cards, process customer payments, handles cash, and assists customers with checking out materials on a daily basis. They also provide basic customer service in using the copy machines, making computer reservations, and printing, and placing holds on library materials.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Ability to work independently.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other Windows based programs.
- Ability to multi-task, resolve problems, and work with a diverse customer base in a fast-paced environment.
SALARY
$15.82 (minimum) - $18.28 (maximum) hourly / $32,906.00 - $38,022.40 annually. Candidates may be hired up to $38,022.40 depending upon qualifications.
BENEFITS
Part-time employees are eligible for earned paid sick time, city training, and free or discounted bus and light rail fares.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- OR One year experience at the level of Library Clerk I.
- All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position.
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
- AND One year general clerical experience including experience serving the public and demonstrated typing skills.

- One year of library clerical experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
- Experience with Windows based PC/software, mobile devices, eBooks, and eMedia.
- Cash handling experience.
- Professional library experience.
- Experience providing customer service.
- Ability to communicate in Spanish is highly desirable.
- Working irregular hours, weekends, and evenings will be required.
