Overview

This position will be responsible for the management of the Company’s trademark portfolio, manage high-volume marketing reviews, develop IP and marketing trainings, and serve as a key liaison to the Merchandising and Marketing teams. This person will need strong business acumen, excellent communication and relationship building skills. You will be directly involved in helping to develop processes to mitigate risk.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Company’s global trademark portfolio including managing IP docketing system.
• Review all promotional marketing and advertising material including websites, emails, signage and in-store displays, events, radio, TV and print advertising materials to ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations as well as internal guidelines.
• Responsible for assisting business partners with policy compliance, including Charitable Giving, Social Media, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
• Investigate infringement allegations and assist with litigation including discovery as needed.
• Advise marketing and merchandising teams on pricing and promotions issues, including conducting training on these topics.
• Contribute to intellectual property agreements and purchase order terms and conditions.
• Support the merchant organization in navigating potential reputational and IP risks including reviewing merchandise sell-off agreements, releases and consent agreements, identifying gray market products and counterfeit goods.
• Prepare sweepstakes and contest rules.
• Analyze and provide guidance on advertising claim substantiation requirements.

Education and Experience

• 7+ years relevant paralegal experience.
• Prior experience reviewing print and digital marketing materials required.
• Prior in-house corporate legal department experience preferred.
• Prior experience managing trademark portfolios and docket management required.
• Paralegal certificate, bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
