Job Description
Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell, & Berkowitz, PC has an immediate opening for a Legal Data Analyst at any office location; as well as the potential to eventually be 100% virtual/remote or hybrid. The Legal Data Analyst supports the Firm’s experience management data system and maintains its evolving expectations, standards, and best practices. This role is largely geared toward the day-to-day administration and utilization of this cloud-based software platform, including routine reporting, data research, data cleansing, data synchronization, data enrichment and helping to build and foster a comprehensive data capture and data quality culture within the Firm.
The position is responsible for gathering feedback from users, assessing data quality, and planning improvements that address the needs across the Firm. The position will interact heavily with the Firm’s client solutions team, marketing & business development team, knowledge management team, attorneys, and legal support coordinators to assist in profiling the Firm’s matters and delivering usable insights to support business development. The Legal Data Analyst must have a strong focus on customer service and attention to detail in order to update and maintain data on an ongoing daily basis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES TO INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
  • Ensure key processes and workflows are documented and communicated effectively to provide users with an optimal experience.
  • Serve as evangelist and change manager within the Firm to encourage maximum adoption of the system.
  • Collaborate with the team to identify opportunities for improvement within the system database as well as the existing data collection processes and workflows.
  • Coordinate and support the attorney matter survey process.
  • Research matters and clients to complete profiles by utilizing available resources, such as matter surveys, internal systems, third party legal resources, and evaluating opportunities to synchronize data with third party companies (Bloomberg, Lexis, WestlawEdge, CNS, Pacer/Courtlink/Docket Alarm, etc.), and attorney interviews.
  • Develop, encourage, and support knowledge sharing behavior across groups and teams by helping users and advising on best practices for system use.
  • Conduct small group or individual training sessions on the system with attorneys and staff.
  • Interface with the Firm’s current experience management data system (Foundation) as well as the users of the system (attorneys and staff) and adapt the software to meet their needs.
  • Audit data using reports and perform data cleanup to maintain accurate and relevant data.

  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite and/or related software, including ability to work with Excel.
  • Understanding of law firms and of the scope of work handled by large law firms.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, analytical mindset, and attention to detail.
  • Must communicate effectively and diplomatically with people of varying levels of seniority and technical expertise.
  • Ability to conduct one-on-one and small group training sessions.
  • Experience with Litera’s Foundation product or other experience management database software highly preferred.
  • Ability to define goals and follow through to achieve results.
  • Experience documenting and communicating processes and workflows.
  • Bachelor's degree required. Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Experience with managing data and data entry.
  • Three to five (3-5) years of relevant experience, preferably within a law firm or professional services organization.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
