Role

We are seeking a talented and motivated individual to join Splunk’s growing Compliance, Employment & Risk team which includes Compliance, Litigation & Investigations, and Employment. This person will support the Litigation & Investigations team coordinating closely with the Compliance and Employment teams. This person will be highly collaborative and entrepreneurial, embracing the opportunity to help manage internal investigations and find new ways to improve and scale the Company’s global investigations and dispute resolution processes. This person will be flexible, creative, and self-motivated—showing initiative and perseverance, resourcefulness, a strong work ethic, a collaborative approach, and a sense of humor. This position will report to Sr. Corp. Counsel, Litigation & Investigations.

Responsibilities: I want to and can do that!

As Legal Counsel, Litigation & Investigations, you will help Splunk build and implement its Global Investigations Program. You will:

  • Maintain records of all investigations
  • Supervise outside counsel relationships, including staffing, investigation strategy, work product, and budgets
  • Partner with Splunk IT on eDiscovery and records retention practices and procedures
  • Enhance the Company’s eDiscovery and Information Governance programs, including maintaining guidelines and processes and ongoing review and assessment of communication and collaboration tools Continuously review and enhance Splunk’s matter management systems, processes, and tools
  • Provide support for other compliance programs and controls
  • Track and report on status and outcomes of investigations Pitch-in on whatever legal work needs doing, whenever it needs to be done
  • Manage and lead a variety of internal investigations in collaboration with other key stakeholders, including internal audit, finance, and HR
  • Partner with subject matter experts and cross-functional stakeholders to manage government and other regulatory investigations
  • Continuously review and revise Splunk’s internal investigations processes and playbooks

Requirements: I’ve already done that or have that!

The candidate must have:

  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal and ability to advocate for a position while maintaining an open-minded approach
  • J.D.and good standing to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • Ability to travel (domestically and internationally) on short notice required
  • Deep knowledge of eDiscovery issues, including document retention policies and procedures; collection, review, and production of documents
  • Ability to provide practical, useful advice while balancing risks and business reward
  • Experience working with or in a fast-paced global b2b or enterprise software company with a channel sales model preferred
  • Extensive experience conducting compliance-related investigations
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience at a leading law firm and/or government agency handling internal investigations and disputes across a broad range of subject matter areas
  • Sense of Humor!
  • Strong organizational skills, an ability to juggle multiple projects at a time in a fast-moving, quickly-changing environment, both collaborating as a team and working independently
  • Experience creating and conducting formal presentations and trainings globally
  • Comfort presenting to and engaging with senior leaders

Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out below, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.

Base Pay Range

SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area

Base Pay Range: $176,000.00 - 242,000.00 per year

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts

Base Pay Range: $164,000.00 - 225,500.00 per year

All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.

Base Pay Range: $153,600.00 - 211,200.00 per year
