The University of New Mexico-Gallup Campus invites applications for a full-time Lecturer II in Nursing. We are one of four branch community colleges of the University of New Mexico and serve approximately 1300 students. Located in Gallup NM, approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque, UNM-Gallup is situated in the Four Corners region and near the Navajo Nation, Zuni Pueblo and Hopi Reservation. The city of Gallup has a population of 22,000 and the surrounding areas provide an abundance of outdoor recreational activities, various museums and extraordinary cultural vibrancy, while maintaining a small-town feel.
UNM-Gallup serves a hugely diverse student population with 100+ full time and part-time faculty members. We are fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission offering Associate degrees, selected Bachelor’s degrees, Career Technical Education certificate programs, and adult basic education (ABE/GED), workforce training and personal enrichment courses. UNM-Gallup serves multiple high school populations including McKinley Academy, Middle College High School and the Center for Career and Technical Education.
The University of New Mexico-Gallup Campus, Education, Health & Human Services Division invites applications for a full time nine (9) month position as a Lecturer II to serve as the Licensed Practical Nurse Program Instructor. The Program Instructor will plan, prepare for, and teach assigned PN courses; evaluate student progress and assist in academic advising of the PN students. The Program Instructor will supervise and evaluate PN students in clinical activities; maintain necessary records and submit institutional reports on time; collaborate with the Nursing Program Director for departmental and institutional planning. Also, collaborate with the Gallup McKinley County Schools to identify students to be admitted into the program. In addition, the Program Instructor will maintain scheduled office hours; attendance at faculty meetings; participation in campus committees and performance of other duties consistent with the role of a community college faculty member. The Program Instructor will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through actively practicing inclusive behavior and proactively managing bias.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Two or more years of clinical nursing experience
- Current unrestricted RN licensure in New Mexico
- Master’s degree in Nursing
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching adults at the college level
- A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
- Ability to work with groups in a collaborative atmosphere
