Job Description
Overview:
Monday-Friday, working clinic hours.
1.0 FTE (40 Hours Per Week).

Benefits Eligible. Position starts at $21.00 an hour minimum. Pay to commensurate with experience.

The Lead Medical Assistant (MA) oversees activities in multiple locations and serves as a subject matter expert, trains and assists with onboarding new clinical staff, promotes quality and safety standards, works consistently in a positive and cooperative manner, and provides excellent service to customers through best practices. May travel to other locations as needed.

Responsibilities:
  • Teaches how to administer approved medications and completes orders or tasks from the Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse that is within the training and scope of the Medical Assistant.
  • Demonstrates how to collect and report data to a licensed Professional and documents all findings in the medical record.
  • Prepares correspondences, documents, reports, and other materials which may be moderately complex, confidential, and sometimes requires independent judgment.
  • Consistently works and models a positive and cooperative manner and provides excellent service to customers by applying best practices and standard operating procedures.
  • Assists with various tasks including rooming of patients, vital signs, heights, weights, any applicable screening questions, and administers approved medications. Provides basic, supportive care pertaining to nutrition, mobility, and elimination.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment by taking appropriate actions regarding questionable findings or concerns. Leads, demonstrates, and promotes clinical quality and safety standards.

Qualifications:
Education Requirements:
  • Associates degree, required. (Completion of Medical Assisting training program that holds National accreditation from Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), required.)
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through American Association of Medical Assistants or Registered as a Medical Assistant (RMA) through American Medical Technologists, required.
Experience:
  • 3 years of medical assisting experience in a physician practice or healthcare setting, required.

Driving Requirements:
  • Valid Ohio driver’s license and proof of auto insurance as required by hospital policy. Must pass motor vehicle background inspection, insurance eligibility, driving qualifications, and training set forth by Nationwide Children’s Hospital and maintain qualification of insurance guidelines.
  • Personsonal Vehicle required for transportation

Other Required Skills:
  • Computer familiarity and literacy with general data entry.
  • Ability to learn and be proficient with specific computer programs, systems, and Electronic Medical Record documentation.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills.
