Implements age appropriate interventions based on individual patient’s needs as directed by the registered nurse/physician.

Provides for a safe environment and safe delivery of care.

Current American Heart Association BLS Certification

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)

The National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) certification from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)

The Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification from the National Healthcare Association (NHA)

High School Diploma or GED

Two (2) or more years of previous experience as a coder preferred

High School graduate or equivalent

Graduate of accredited coding program

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or equivalent combination of licensure and experience: Preferred

Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) Health Care Provider certification: Required

Medical Assistant, Non-Certified (FT) WCS Outpatient Clinic - Johnson City, TN

CARDIOVASCULAR ASSOCIATES, Johnson City, TN

Full-time (scheduled 72 hrs or more per pay period)

8 AM to 5 PM

Completion of Medical Assistant program accredited or approved by the Washington Department of Health required

Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days of hire.

Medical Assistant diploma or Associate's degree required or equivalent clinical experience

Driver's license may be required for travel between physician offices depending upon practice requirements

Provides clinical support to physicians and extenders during patient examinations and procedures. (25%)

Prepares treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the room stocked and cleaned, reordering supplies, and disposing of biohazard supplies. (10%)

Schedules procedures and obtains authorizations as necessary. (15%)

May collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing; give injections. (5%)

Reports adverse events and near misses to appropriate management authority.

Knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques.

Knowledge of blood and body fluid precautions.

Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program required.

Provides clinical leadership oversight, serving as a department resource for clinical questions. (10%)

Accurately performs clerical office functions and other duties as assigned or required. (10%)

May require travel between physician office locations.

1-3 years as a Medical Assistant

Demonstrated clinical skills; one year of experience working in acute care or outpatient clinic setting as a Medical Assistant is required

Casting experience, preferable in a pediatric environment (ROT certification preferred)

Proficient computer and EMR skills

Must be flexible and self-motivated, with excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

Able to prioritize multiple assignments in a busy outpatient setting.

Current American Heart Association BLS CPR

Demonstrated clinical skills; one year of experience working in acute care or outpatient clinic setting as a Medical Assistant is required

Casting experience, preferable in a pediatric environment (ROT certification preferred)
