A role with Employee Relations means the opportunity to provide legal counsel on internal employee relations matters for our domestic field, headquarters and international locations. Your internal clients will be Human Resources and various business leaders, and you’ll consult on investigations and respond to both internal and external claims.

  • Prepare quarterly litigation update for Legal Affairs’ leaders.
  • Assist with Equal Employment Opportunity Commission charge intake/charge response.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
  • Enact litigation holds and ensure prompt delivery to relevant team members.
  • Prepare legal documents in partnership with supervising attorneys and manage internal processes.
  • Assist other areas of Legal Affairs where needed.
  • Assist the Target Integrity Hotline team in a variety of capacities.
  • Provide backup administrative assistant duties (in case of absence).
  • Help respond to attorney demand letters.


About You


  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with effective organizational skills
  • Preferably experienced in working at a law firm, in-house law department, or in Human Resources
  • Ability to learn and navigate numerous, unique systems; proficiency with MS Office suite
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated guest service, interpersonal, and follow-up skills
  • Proven problem solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
  • Four-year degree or equivalent experience
  • Flexible, team player who learns quickly while adapting to evolving technology and processes
  • Ability to apply discretion and sensitivity while working with highly confidential information


This position may be considered for a Remote or Hybrid (known internally at Target as "Flex for Your Day") work arrangement based on Target's needs.  A Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at a Target location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.  A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member's core role may be performed either remote or onsite at a Target location depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day. Work duties cannot be performed outside of the country of the primary work location, unless otherwise prescribed by Target.
