Law Clerk 1 (D3 Clay County)

The Third Judicial District is seeking qualified applicants to fill 1 Law Clerk position, primarily working in SubDistrict 3A and officing in Clay County, Spencer, Iowa.

Employees in this position perform research and administrative functions for multiple judges. Knowledge of substantive and procedural law and statutes applicable to jurisdiction of the district court. Ability to interact with the public, judges, attorneys, and government officials in a variety of situations and circumstances. Ability to formulate and express ideas on complex technical and legal subjects clearly and concisely, orally and in writing. This is intended to be an annual clerkship opportunity beginning August 1, 2023 or earlier if available. Depending on funding, availability, and performance, this clerkship may be extended for additional years.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Graduation from an accredited law school is required. High standard of academic excellence and considerable experience in legal research and writing are desirable.

Candidates must pass a preemployment criminal background check.
