As the Laboratory Supervisor, you will require knowledge of electrical product testing and certification.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Procurement of test equipment needed for lab scope expansion;
  • Additional duties include generation of quality procedures and work instructions, design and implementation of test fixtures, acquiring lab equipment and obtaining and maintaining accreditations.
  • Manage lab efficiencies and daily productivity;
  • Familiarity with battery testing and requirements also a plus - ANSI C18 Series, IEC 62133, IEC 69160, IEC 60086-X, UL 2054, UL 1642, CTIA Battery, UN 38.3 standards
  • Review the design of electrical products against UL / CSA / EN / IEC standards;
  • Manage and oversight of engineering team conducting tests in accordance with UL / CSA /EN / IEC standards;
  • Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Travel to customer sites - Requires 10-20% travel;
  • Specific knowledge of IEC/UL 62368-1, IEC/UL 61010-1, or similar product safety standards is required.
  • Design and implementation of test fixtures;
  • Prior leadership experience required
  • Familiarity of Medical IEC/UL 60601-1 and related part 2 standards is a plus;
  • Manage the lab throughput as well as client communication of projects and sales support.
  • This position will include direct reports.
  • Assist to maintain and upgrade accreditation scopes
  • Ability to engage with sales to develop and expand the market;
  • Responsible for engineering oversight, project reviewing, scheduling efficiencies, quoting, and sales growth.
  • Manage projects from the proposal process through the delivery of the final test report.

Qualifications
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines;
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks at the same time and prioritize them accordingly;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with SGS personnel and clients outside the US;
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment, able to deal with ambiguity;
  • Ability to supervise/mentor staff;
  • 1+ years of supervisory experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Science or Business
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, good team spirit and adaptability;
  • In-depth knowledge of IEC/UL 60950-1 and 61010-1 or equivalent
  • High level of accuracy and good presentation skills;
  • 5+ years working in Engineering Laboratory, or a combination of equivalent relevant engineering testing experience and education
  • Ability to interpret specifications to satisfy customer requirements
  • Able to travel outside the US
