Summary
- Reports test results in a timely manner according to established laboratory protocols.
- Establishes policies, procedures, and protocols for testing performed in a defined laboratory section(s). Defines analytic accuracy, precision, sensitivity, and reference ranges for test methods. Oversees quality control testing and instrument maintenance.
- Effectively manages resources such as productivity, supplies, instruments and equipment. Plans work and completes job responsibilities in an efficient and productive manner.
- Performs accurate and appropriate testing of specimens received in the laboratory, according to established laboratory protocol and procedures.
- Follows established procedures for laboratory quality control, ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, quality standards, compliance activities, and policies and procedures.
- Oversees inventory management and provides input into the budget process.
- Determines, coordinates and supervises daily staffing assignments and levels. Provides direction, orientation, training, coaching, and mentoring to staff. Performs or assists with performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.
- Assess competency of team members.
- Assists with the development of training material and the competency assessment tools used by the department and ensure that all associated documentation is kept up to date.
- Assesses quality of services delivered and facilitates staff development programs. Ensures staff compliance with regulatory and departmental and organizational policies, procedures and protocols.
- Perform method validations and ongoing method assessments.
- METHOD PERFORMANCE VALIDATION: Assesses the validity of new procedures/method development.
- MANAGING PEOPLE: Uses HR/Performance Management processes and systems to align individual performance to achieve organizational results.
- ANALYSIS AND DECISION MAKING: Uses decision making processes and tools to analyze situations and make effective decisions.
- CUSTOMER SERVICE: Demonstrates commitment to service excellence by promptly addressing internal/external customer issues/requests, resolving concerns while maintaining a professional image and behavior to build and enhance the patient/family/customer experience.
