Laboratory Assistant - Specimen Operations

Responsibilities
The Specimen Operations Team of One is looking for laboratory assistants! As a laboratory assistant you will be a member of a diverse, agile team responsible for biological specimen receipt, identification verification, processing and storage. In addition you will perform a variety of clerical, processing, and other laboratory duties that include maintaining supply inventory, filing, stocking, receiving shipments, and cleaning. You will actively partner with team members by fostering an inclusive work environment and respecting others with different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives. This position is located at the Superior Drive Support Center where immediate parking is available.
*Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic.

Qualifications

You must have a high school diploma or equivalent to be considered for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

• Conscientious of details and strict safety requirements for handling chemicals, reagents, and infectious agents.
• Experienced with computers, keyboarding, and telephone operations.
• Science background
• Knowledge of laboratory functions and medical terminology
• 1-2 years medical experience
• Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
• Ability to stay organized, prioritize, and shift gears in a busy environment.
• Ability to work independently and as a contributing team member.

CompensationDetail
Required education, experience, tenure, and internal equity will be considered when job offers are extended. The pay range for Laboratory Assistant is $17.20 - $23.09 per hour.
