Job Responsibilities:

• Performs manual and computerized data entry to accession specimens and maintain logs and recording.
• Maintains accurate records.
• Sets up urine cultures after training
• Maintains laboratory equipment.
• Prepares or maintains all necessary reagents, including stains, according to proper specification.
• Prepares microscopic slides on bodily fluids for diagnostic purposes after training.
• All other duties as assigned.
• Prepares urine for detailed Non-Gyn Cytology, UroVysion FISH/Cytology after training.
• Prepares and processes blood for analysis of PSA, Testosterone, and other tests as directed, after training.
• IHC hTERT: Prepare slides and label slides after training.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Excellent communication and verbal skills, ability to prioritize and interact effectively with all levels of management, staff and physicians.
• Ability to approach problems/decisions analytically.
• High School Diploma required.
• Ability to document any required maintenance and quality control for any training received involving these functions.
• Basic knowledge of data entry and patient demographics.
• Ability to use Cytology Processor, Tosoh and other functions related to the production of diagnostic results after training.
• Basic knowledge of Windows Office Products.
• Able to perform basic instrument preventive maintenance of the equipment the employee is trained to use.
• A minimum one year of experience in a laboratory setting preferred.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision.
