Laboratory Assistant 2 Jobs

Under direction of the PI (Dong-Hwan Choe), this position will support several research projects taking place in the University of California Riverside campus (mostly in Department of Entomology) as well as other nearby field locations. The incumbent will be responsible for: (1) assisting in insect collection (ant and drywood termites) from field to establish laboratory colonies of those insects for laboratory experiments, (2) assisting in setting up experiments (e.g., making small arenas for ant and drywood termite experiment using a juvenile insect hormones and a chitin biosynthesis inhibitor), and (3) assisting staff research associates (SRAs) and graduate student researchers (GSRs) for other laboratory duties (picking up packages, maintaining insect colonies).
*The salary range for the Lab Assistant 2 is $43,305.12 - $51,009.84 annually. The expected pay scale for this position is up to $44,933.76 annually. We base placement within these ranges on the individual's qualifications as they relate to this position.*

Ability to handle small insects and their live colonies (ants, termites, and cockroaches). Ability to carry heavy wood samples and soil samples for insect collection (>50 lbs). Ability to safely use insect collection tools (hammer, power tool, chisel, tweezers, etc.)
