Job Location: Rockville, MD. Must be able to work onsite, various schedules, holidays and weekends (rotating)

Job Overview
Provide general technical support for in vivo oncology studies in mice. Duties and responsibilities:
Participate in educational and training sessions to develop and master the following skills related to general in vivo technical support for oncology studies with mice. Upon certification, support ongoing operations and studies.
Tier 1 - Cage wash, vivarium maintenance, RO water system, supply stocking
Tier 2 - Mouse Handling/Restraint, animal health observations, gender identification, husbandry, animal receipt
Tier 3 - Animal identification (eartags), Body Weight Measurement, anesthesia, surgical staple removal, euthanasia, study randomization, animal delivery between teams
Tier 4 – Tumor Volume Measurement, compound administration (SC, IP), blood collection (cardiac puncture), necropsy
Tier 5 - Compound administration (PO, IV), blood collection (facial vein), surgery (incision, closure)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Willingness to assist with other duties in a dynamic environment
- Ability to work effectively and productively in a team-oriented environment while maintaining a strong sense of accountability, integrity and confidentiality.
- Strong general computer usage skills (email, spreadsheets, databases)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to observe safety and security procedures
- Eagerness to learn and master new skills
- Strong focus on animal welfare
Education and Experience
- High School diploma/GED. BS degree in animal science, biology, pharmacology, or related field preferred
- Experience not required
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Must be able to lift and move packages weighing up to 50 pounds
- In carrying out the duties of the job there will be frequent exposure to fumes/chemical hazards
- Some activities require repetitive motion and reaching, pulling or pushing
- Must be able to sit and use hands to finger, handle and feel
- Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue
- Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time in a typical laboratory environment
