The Kitchen Steward (dishwasher) is responsible for the cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of the kitchen and dishware, glassware, etc. The Steward oversees and maintains a proper functioning dish area while also keeping a clean and safe work area for everyone. Reporting to the Executive Sous Chef, under the immediate direction of the Steward Supervisor, the Steward is an essential team player within the kitchen and across the organization. The cleanliness of the kitchens and dishware are essential to WOW our guests with unforgettable experiences at Boise Centre.

WAGE:
- Complete wage range: $17.28-$22.84 per hour, depending on experience

WHAT DO STEWARDS (DISHWASHERS) DO?
- Prepares and stages dishes prior to washing
- Uses and maintains all dish and kitchen equipment according to manufacturer and Boise Centre guidelines
- Attends weekly team and department meetings
- Washes, organizes, and stores all china, glassware, tableware and cooking utensils
- Monitors broken or chipped items to be removed from circulation properly and reports defective items to management
- Supports kitchen staff and assists with food preparation when necessary
- Cleans, maintains, and ensures floors are dry and clean at all times
- Ensures the dish room and all kitchen areas are clean, organized, and well maintained
- Performs a variety of related tasks and duties as assigned
- Practices food safety and sanitation in accordance with Boise Centre standards, local, state, and federal laws
- Ensures all china, glassware, tableware, cooking utensils and other kitchen equipment items are clean to Boise Centre standards
- Monitors chemical levels and temperature of equipment
- Sets up, utilizes and tears down dish breakdown stations for banquets
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
- Ability to read, understand, and carry out simple and detailed written or verbal instructions
- Ability to perform multiple functions in a fast-paced environment
- Must be willing to complete Idaho Food Handlers Permit (free online at https://foodsafetyexams.dhw.idaho.gov/), or already possess a ServSafe certification
- Ability to handle time sensitive delivery of services and emergencies
- Ability to use professional radio etiquette
- Communicates regularly within department and cross functional teams
- Assesses multiple demands and priorities and identifies necessary resources to handle critical work demands
- Ability to work in a high-stress, high-volume work environment
- Works as a team player, sharing knowledge and skills
- Present a neat, clean and professional, appearance by following established grooming and uniform standards
- Responsible to be dependable and a self-starter
- Provides timely and thorough customer service to internal and external customers
- Professionally deal with own emotions, reactions, and motivations and maintain a courteous demeanor at all times

- Ability to prioritize tasks and be flexible with changes in work loads
- Regular and reliable work attendance at scheduled time on-site
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, safely operate equipment and exposure to food grade chemicals, and withstand hot steamy room for long periods of time
- Frequently will: stand and walk for long periods of time; bend, stoop, kneel, and twist; reach and use of ladders, stools, and stairs; lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds
- Good peripheral vision and dexterous with both hands
- May be exposed to moderate noise levels
Must be willing to work outside of normal business hours, long hours, weekends, evenings, and holidays
