Job Description

Capgemini Government Solutions (CGS) LLC is seeking a highly motivated Junior Security Engineer to join our team in the Washington, D.C. metro area to support our government clients. The Junior Security Engineer is a multifaceted role that collaborates with other teams across the business. As a Junior Security Engineer, you will contribute to the design, implementation, and maintenance of security solutions and technologies to safeguard our organization's systems and data. Working under the guidance of senior security engineers, you will assist in monitoring and analyzing security events, addressing vulnerabilities, and supporting incident response efforts. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams and staying updated with emerging security threats and industry best practices.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to apply and grow their skillset, work with a motivated and entrepreneurial team, engage with a wide range of stakeholders, and build CGS’ capabilities.

As a Junior Security Engineer, you will:

  • Assist in implementing and maintaining security infrastructure, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), antivirus software, and other security tools.
  • Assist in the deployment and management of security technologies such as multi-factor authentication (MFA), data loss prevention (DLP), and security information and event management (SIEM) systems.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure security best practices are implemented across networks, systems, and applications.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging security threats, vulnerabilities, and industry trends to recommend appropriate security controls and countermeasures.
  • Support security audits and assessments and assist in implementing recommendations.
  • Monitor security systems, log files, and alerts to identify potential security incidents and vulnerabilities, and assist in incident response efforts.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of security policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Participate in security incident response activities, including containment, investigation, and recovery.
  • Assist in educating and raising awareness among employees regarding security best practices and policies.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration tests to identify security weaknesses and support remediation efforts.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be able to obtain a DoD security clearance.
  • Familiarity with incident response procedures and methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve security incidents effectively.
  • S. Citizenship is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of security frameworks, standards, and regulations (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST).
  • Knowledge of networking protocols, operating systems, and security technologies.
  • Understanding of common security threats, vulnerabilities, and attack vectors.
  • Familiarity with security tools such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM systems, antivirus software, and vulnerability assessment tools.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience working within a Security Operations Center (SOC) environment as a performing security engineer.
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn, with a passion for cybersecurity and a commitment to staying updated with the latest trends and developments.
  • Possession or willingness to obtain DOD 8570 IAT Level III certification such as CompTIA Security+ or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) within three (3) months of hire.
  • Basic understanding of risk assessment and vulnerability management practices.

Capgemini discloses salary range information in compliance with state and local pay transparency obligations. The disclosed range represents the lowest to highest salary we, in good faith, believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting, although we may ultimately pay more or less than the disclosed range, and the range may be modified in the future. The disclosed range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including, but not limited to, geographic location, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, performance, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs. At Capgemini, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. The base salary range for the tagged location is $75,000-$90,000.

This role may be eligible for other compensation including variable compensation, bonus, or commission. Full time regular employees are eligible for paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401(k), and any other benefits to eligible employees.

The amount and availability of any bonus, commission, or any other form of compensation that are allocable to a particular employee remains in the Company's sole discretion unless and until paid and may be modified at the Company’s sole discretion, consistent with the law.
