About the Indiana Office of Technology (IOT):


The Indiana Office of Technology provides cost-effective, secure, consistent, reliable enterprise-technology services to our partner agencies so that they can better serve our mutual customer, the Hoosier taxpayer. IOT will also act as the technology and solution enabler for the State, helping its partner agencies achieve business objectives and innovation.


Salary:


Salary is commensurate with capabilities and experience with a range of $61,022 - $100,724 per year.


About the Job:


The Jr. Security Engineer coordinates statewide cybersecurity awareness training. Your goal will be to reduce human error and strengthen the resilience of the workforce. Key outcomes for this role are:

  • Research the KnowBe4 training library to identify pertinent and effective training modules then implement them in the state’s SuccessFactors learning manager. Modules are released on the first Tuesday of each month.
  • Leverage the KnowBe4 training platform to maximize its utility in risk reduction. Includes setting up campaigns, selecting templates, analyzing results, and reporting metrics to the agencies.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Develop increased usage of the state portal by local governments. Provide leadership to locals through one on one and group communications. Identify issues inhibiting use of the product and solutions to drive improved use of the KnowBe4 product statewide.
  • Comfort communicating with all levels of management and the workforce.
  • Organization skills to manage the timely delivery of modules, tests, reports, and key performance indicators (KPI).
  • Prioritization of customer service to those served.
  • Coordinate phishing training tests. This includes quarterly enterprise-wide tests as well as many other tests for a variety of groups. Understanding the psychological factors that work within phishing templates is key to improving the performance of our workforce.
  • Proven analytical skills that can shape strategy and tactics to improve workforce resiliency.
  • Work closely with agencies to ensure they meet the 95% completion threshold measured through a key performance indicator (KPI)

A Day in the Life:


The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Assist in defending systems against unauthorized access, modification and/or destruction.
  • Support security standards, security systems and authentication protocols.
  • Use outputs from security tools such as anti-virus software, monitoring tools, vulnerability scanning, SIEM, IPS/IDS etc.
  • Monitor and address security alerts, incidents and disasters.
  • Assist senior staff with security upgrades, tools and countermeasures.
  • Assist with supporting network, intrusion detection and prevention systems.
  • Deliver technical reports and work with agencies on findings.
  • Assist with security deployments with outside vendors.
  • Respond to abnormalities and report violations.
  • Provide routine security administration.
  • React immediately to security incidents.
  • Implement effective tools and processes to protect computers, networks, software, data and information systems against any possible attacks.
  • Monitor protocols intended to protect digital files and information systems against unauthorized access, modification and/or destruction.

What You'll Need for Success:


You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:

  • Individual must have an understanding of security concepts, risk, and demonstrated communication skills.
  • Position will be required to address crisis issues beyond normal work hours as needed.
  • Must understand the concepts behind technical tools and play a role in processes assisting in response to attacks of various types.
  • Must be able to work autonomously and handle multiple assignments.
  • Must have demonstrated technical competence showing the capability of growing into a resource that can improve state defensive capabilities.
  • Effective communication skills.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role does not provide direct supervision to direct reports.
