Experience required:

• Experience and capacity to operate Federal web based systems Knowledge of, and experience with, the FOIA Exemptions and processes.
• Expertise in computer software applications including Microsoft Word, Windows, Excel, PowerPoint, and FOIA Xpress
• 2 years of experience
• Bachelor's Degree

Responsibilities

• Assessment of Requests
• Clearly mark redactions on partial releases with the applicable exemptions on the document in accordance with the Department of Justice, Office of Information Policy's Guidance
• Records responsive to FOIA requests are typically complex and contain sensitive information, and the contractor will handle sensitive information accordingly.
• FOIA Request Processing and Consultation
• Understand how to use the electronic tools, including marking and applying redactions.
• Segregate non-exempt information for release.
• Understand how to identify material for protection under the FOIA's exemptions and can easily contact supervisors with questions.
• Completion of FOIA Requests
• Shall ensure that the final response adheres to the established guidelines of the FOIA process. The guidelines consist of the FOIA, the FRMA, and implementing
• Departmental regulations and issuances; and organizational and Departmental policy statements that consist of complicated information management statutes that permits an individual to gain access to records and its implementing Departmental regulation; organizational and Departmental policy statements that are general in nature and of limited use in specific projects and situations.
• Process responsive records using electronic tools.

• The Junior-Level Analyst has extensive knowledge and understanding of FOIA and processing
• Review of records pursuant to the FOIA
• Application of the FOIA
• Ability to Handle Complex, Difficult, and Time Sensitive Assignments.
• Application of FOIA exemptions to withhold information
• Redaction experience
• Generating response letters
