Junior Financial Data Analyst

Humana is seeking a Junior Financial Data Analyst to join the Wisconsin Medicaid Market (iCare) team. The Junior Financial Data Analyst is responsible for data analysis, reporting, and operational analysis for departments throughout Humana/iCare as needed. Join this dedicated team and lead change in how health care for the underserved in Wisconsin is managed.

Responsibilities

• Integrate clinical and operational data into information that can be used to support committee and Board of Director reports.
• Assist in the preparation, review and reconciliation of the encounter submissions to the various governmental agencies (State and Federal).
• Provide information necessary to assist the contracting department during rate negotiations and assist in the developing of standardized rates.
• Develop and analyze reports on various projects like Hierarchical Condition Categories (“HCC”) prospective member assessments and the Five-Star Program, to create operational efficiencies and improve financial performance.
• Provide backup to administrative expense development for HCC year-end accrual documentation and adjustments, development of projection models, and interactions with external vendors.
• Provide reports to analyze existing trends and research the elements causing the trends.
• Assist in developing systematic approaches to create efficiencies in reporting and operational procedures.
• Provide backup to reconciliation duties performed by other financial data analyst.
• Create monthly saving initiative, managerial and Board of Director reports.
• Analyze and balance data results to ensure accuracy of the data results.
• Provide back-up assistance to the Senior and/or Lead Financial Data Analyst in providing governmental monitoring reports.
• Reconcile and research variances between paid claims and the check register.
• Perform ad hoc data analysis and reporting through the creation and use of SQL language queries and incorporating results in readable formats such as Excel, Power BI and/or PDF documents.

Required Qualifications

• At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested.
• Associates who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.
• Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.
• To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates must meet the following criteria:
  • At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested.
  • Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership.
  • Associates who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.
  • Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.
  • Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.

• Highly skilled and proficient with Excel as well as a working knowledge of Microsoft Access.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Information Systems Management, or related field.
• Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.
• Experience working with and analyzing large data sets.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in analyzing data by writing complex queries in SQL
• Knowledge and experience in working with statistical data, formulas and actuarial tables.
• Experience with Power BI

• Typical Work Days/Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30 – 5:00 pm CST
• Workstyle: Home. Home workstyle is defined as remote but will use Humana office space on an as needed basis for collaboration and other face-to-face needs.
