Jr. Underwriter Jobs

Ullico Casualty Group, LLC is actively recruiting a Jr. Underwriter, for our Property and Casualty Insurance Department. This position is located in our Silver Spring, MD office. This person will be the Underwriting Liaison between carriers and independent agents with Ullico. This position will
involve data entry, analysis, troubleshooting, problem solving, processing of policies, transaction for carriers/agents.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Incumbent may perform any or all of the following:

• Processing of daily transactions from carrier systems and upload to our systems.
• Ensuring renewals are processed in a timely manner.
• Requests and utilizes relevant information from other sources.
• Perform other similar and related duties as required.
• Trains underwriting technical assistants and provides quality assurance of their work when needed.
• Reviews applications, calculate loss ratios, research insured details and using carrier systems to generate a pricing model and processing for assigned agents/carriers.
• Analyzes census, experience and claims data to determine rates for renewals.
• Work with and promote sales and marketing with independent agent sales force.
• Assisting other business units in problem solving and taking corrective actions.
• Enters underwriting data and assists carriers in analyzing risks for new and renewal business proposals.
• Prepares proposals, renewals and other correspondences as requested.
• Consults with carriers and agents on solving client needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will have an Associate’s Degree and two to three years of Underwriting experience. Effective written and oral communication skills are required. Proficiency in and demonstrated knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and email applications required. Demonstrated organizational analysis, data comparison, detail-oriented and follow-up skills required.
