This position is designated as work-from-home.

Synergy is seeking a Mid-level Java Developer (Engineer) who is self-motivated, tech savvy, curios and loves the challenge of solving problems to support a fast-moving enterprise application. You will work closely with development, operations, security, and the customer to provide solutions for our client. Work will include investigating solutions to problems and developing and modify existing code to help improve the application and better meet the needs of the user community.

Responsibilities:

• Mentor less experienced developers and assist them with issues and questions.
• The candidate is responsible for providing technical expertise in analyzing, designing, implementing, and maintaining applications in a distributed enterprise application with external and internal interfaces utilizing Micro-services and business automation patterns.
• Create and document detailed software implementations / code while ensuring that their code / configurations adhere to the security, logging, error handling, performance standards and non-functional requirements.
• Decompose business requirements and translate them into detailed design specifications and code.
• Creation of custom software within a Scaled Agile cross functional team environment.
• Design solutions, write code, perform unit testing, develop appropriate artifacts / documentation, and facilitates final delivery of web APIs and backend services.
• Participate in the evaluation of new technologies for fit with the program/system/eco-system and the associated upstream and downstream impacts on process, data, risk (e.g., security)

Required Qualifications:

• Experience with Apache Camel, Enterprise Integration Patterns and Spring
• Define and implement unit and integration tests.
• Ability to communicate ideas in a variety of formats.
• Boot Camp expenses will be covered for obtaining a CSSLP certificate.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience in Java software troubleshooting, design, implementation, and deployment.
• Excellent problem solving and data analysis skills.
• Experience supporting an enterprise level application.
• Ability to mentor others and provide technical assistance.
• A Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field or obtaining a CSSLP certification*
• Discipline to document code.
• Ability to analyze someone else’s code and assume ownership.
• Self-motivated with proven ability to work independently and collaboratively as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Maven or Gradle.
• 5+ years of experience with JMS (Java Message Service).
• 5+ years of experience with Enterprise Service Bus JVM infrastructure setup and configuration.
• Experience with JavaScript and Angular.
• Experience working in Open Shift / Docker / Kubernetes or other containerized solutions.
• 2+ years of experience with Setup and configuration of JMS broker, queues, and topics.
• Experience with Linux/Unix.
• Experience working with Linux based systems.
• Experience using SoapUI, Postman or similar tools for testing web services.
• 8750 Compliant Security Certification (CSSLP, CASP CE, CISSP (associate)), or attain certification within 6 months of hire date.
• Experience with BPM frameworks (Appian, JBoss BPM, etc.).
• 5+ years of experience with JSON, SOAP, WSDL and XML Schema.
• SCRUM/Agile Development experience including experience working on a distributed team.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering or related field.
• Experience with Java App Servers such as JBoss EAP or Tomcat.
