Position Description


Job Summary


A successful Analyst will demonstrate the ability to support investment identification and due diligence through critical-thinking skills, being detail-oriented, and the capability to lead projects and workstreams independently. The role requires a high level of self-motivation and will have a meaningful level of responsibility from the outset. As a member of the investment and innovation teams, the Analyst may interact with academic investigators, entrepreneurs, co-investors, BrightEdge advisors, and other external parties within the innovation/venture ecosystem, thus requiring strong communication skills. In addition, the Analyst will be responsible for contributing to and occasionally leading projects related to portfolio company management, new investment thesis development, and performance reporting. The role will have a dotted line to the Director of Investments.


Major Responsibilities


  • Project manage and support investment and innovation team initiatives relating to new investment thesis development and other activities
  • Work with investment and innovation teams to identify and analyze investment opportunities
  • Support projections, metrics and performance information across investments/portfolio
  • Support deal due diligence by gathering information required to evaluate potential investment opportunities
  • Complete market research, comparative/industry analyses
  • Prepare presentation materials for the BrightEdge investment committee and other stakeholders
  • Actively presenting and participating in discussions regarding investment trends, new opportunities and industry reports
  • Actively participate in meetings with potential investment targets, operating partners and key industry players
  • Support closing process for investments
  • Follow market trends, research companies and analyze industry dynamics
  • Manage and track inbound deal flow activity via Airtable and other platforms
  • Liaise with academic investigators, entrepreneurs, potential co-investors and other external parties


Position Requirements


FORMAL KNOWLEDGE


Bachelors degree with preference for focus or concentration in biology or life sciences, health sciences, or other related fields; 1+ years' experience within venture capital, start-ups, technology transfer, biopharma, or healthcare technology.

  • Strong communication, presentation and collaboration skills

  • Advanced Microsoft windows capabilities, specifically Microsoft Word/PowerPoint/Excel; familiar with digital systems and processes; familiar with Airtable; able to learn and master new digital and technology solutions and tools
  • Strong research skills with the ability to synthesize summaries of complex topics
  • Collaborate with a strong sense of accountability in meeting commitments and deliverables

  • Occasional travel will be required (less than 20%)
