Job Description
INVESTMENT ANALYST


Summary


The Investment Analyst researches and analyzes current and prospective investments for the Foundation as directed by the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and contributes to accurate and effective documentation and reporting of the Foundation’s investment portfolio.


Essential Duties And Responsibilities


  • Compile quarterly manager dashboard of top/bottom performers, activity, and pipeline. Develop and maintain efficient, user-friendly reporting.
  • Assist with sourcing investments through development of investment manager network and maintaining a pipeline of opportunities.
  • Support the year-end financial and A-133 audit, agreed upon procedures, and all other related activities.
  • Develop, document, and communicate relevant processes and procedures.
  • Work with the CIO to analyze financial markets and Foundation’s investments; help develop commentary, reporting, and PowerPoints on material events and developments.
  • Work with Investment Operations Analyst to ensure a robust pre-and post-trade process, including documentation.
  • Perform other tasks/assignments and work professionally and constructively with other members of the finance, accounting, operations and program teams.
  • Thoroughly evaluate and monitor investments through quarterly calls, in-person meetings, benchmarking, financial modeling, review of relevant research and security/fund-specific documentation (including statements, regulatory filings, private placement memorandums, limited partnership agreements and other due diligence materials).
  • Complete relevant subscription documents for CIO’s review, approval, and signature.
  • Contribute to the performance reporting provided by the Investment Operations Analyst, as needed.
  • Update bond ladders, quarterly, compare to distributions and review for re-investment needs. Produce review memo and any recommendations to CIO.
  • Assist the CIO with executing investment transactions (new pools, new sub-accounts, deposits, transfers and closures) in compliance with Foundation policy and prepare/obtain relevant supporting documentation.
  • Maintain various databases and tools to track and evaluate portfolio exposure, investment risks, and returns.
  • Prepare written recommendations and documentation for CIO, Board, and Executive Team.
  • Prepare written documentation of meetings and investment ideas.
  • Stay current with the latest trends and techniques in areas of responsibility, including financial market news and operating, legal, and regulatory practices.
  • Act as a point of contact for all investment and custodial relationships and maintain up-to-date documentation of relationships and interactions as necessary.
  • Proactively consider, recommend, and implement enhancements to portfolio databases, reporting, and other processes.
  • Monitor corporate actions on NFWF portfolios and investigate and recommend actions, as needed.
  • Work with the CIO on frequent ad-hoc projects, analysis, and reports, including evaluating best practices, investment decisions, thematic research, historical and statistical trends, and other projects.


Minimum Qualifications (education, Experience, Skills)


  • Ability to work independently in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Willing and able to adopt new technologies and programs.
  • This position requires a high level of autonomy and significant independent decision-making skills, time management and multi-tasking abilities that are critical to develop meaningful relationships with both potential and existing investment partners.
  • Direct experience in evaluating investment managers and portfolios preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail, as well as organizational, and follow-through skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/business/finance/economics or related fields.
  • As most of the Foundation’s investments are in Fixed Income, experience in this sector is strongly preferred.
  • General computer proficiency. Mastery of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint strongly preferred.
  • Direct experience with banking and/or investment custodial platforms.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Minimum three years’ experience in Banking/Accounting/Finance/Investment Management.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with financial and/or investment audits preferred.
