Job Description

Angler’s Covey Inventory Manager

Full-Time: 30-45 Hours per week

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Inventory Manager to join our team. The Inventory Manager will be responsible for maintaining accurate inventory counts, managing the inventory management system, preparing receiving documents, creating purchase orders, and overseeing all aspects of inventory management. The ideal candidate should have strong organizational and analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

·Maintain accurate inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies between physical counts and system records.

·Manage the inventory management system, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.

·Monitor inventory levels to ensure optimal stock levels are maintained.

·Coordinate with various departments to understand inventory requirements.

·Assist bookkeeper by preparing receiving documents, such as purchase orders, invoices, and shipping documents.

·Collaborate with vendors to track and manage incoming and outgoing inventory.

·Conduct regular audits and cycle counts to identify and resolve inventory discrepancies or issues.

·Analyze inventory data to identify trends, stock rotation, and slow-moving items.

·Develop and implement inventory control procedures to optimize efficiency and accuracy.

·Work closely with the purchasing team to forecast inventory needs and ensure timely replenishment.

·Evaluate supplier performance and negotiate favorable terms and pricing.

·Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements within the inventory management system.

·Train and supervise inventory staff members, providing guidance and support as needed.

·Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies related to inventory management.

Participate on the Covey Leadership Team

·Participate in weekly manager meetings.

·Prepare weekly sales and inventory reports

·Share information regarding purchasing and receiving (e.g. preseasons coming up, give input for placing orders, orders expected to arrive that week, etc.)

·Share and elicit information regarding inventory levels (e.g. products that aren’t moving, that we’re running low on or are out of, that are back-ordered, etc.)

·Participate in discussions of issues raised by other members of the leadership team.

Assist other managers in the success of their area of responsibility.

·Respect each manager’s authority for his or her area of responsibility and allow him or her to lead that area.

·Communicate with managers any areas of concern or suggestions for change within their department or area of responsibility related to inventory.

·Model to the staff an attitude of support and cooperation with other managers

Work together to ensure the success of store promotions and special events

·Plan proactively to ensure that products are in stock for store promotions and events.

·Communicate products that are overstocked that can be promoted or discounted in events.

·Coordinate efforts with other managers to ensure that there is a cohesive, team-based effort.

Requirements:

·Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field (preferred).

·Proven work experience as an Inventory Manager or similar role.

·Strong knowledge of inventory management principles and best practices.

·Proficient in using point of sale, inventory management, systems and software.

·Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

·Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in data entry and record keeping.

·Strong organizational and time management skills.

·Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.

·Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

·Familiarity with purchasing processes and procedures.

·Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to inventory management.

·Leadership skills and experience

·Retail merchandising skills are a plus

·Fly fishing / outdoor equipment experience preferred
