Basic Function


This role is a hybrid position that will be responsible for both internal audit and data analytics activities. The hybrid role of Data Analyst and Internal Auditor will work as part of the Internal Audit team and split their time between performing internal audits, and assisting in the development of advanced analytics and continuous monitoring within the Internal Audit department.


Within the capacity of an auditor, the individual will participate in the execution of Internal Audit activities including evaluating risks, testing controls, and reviewing processes related to the organization’s internal controls, department procedures, and compliance with regulatory rules and company policies. They will assist with the tracking of open audit findings and facilitate response generation, information gathering, testing of evidence, and escalation of prior findings with Audit Management.


In addition, the position will also be responsible for implementing complex data analytics within the audit function. The role will be instrumental in the continued improvement of the internal control and governance processes via data analytics, reporting and continuous monitoring activities.


Essential Functions & Responsibilities


  • Make recommendations on applying data analytics and continuous monitoring audit activities during the audit process.
  • Identify key controls, control design, and/or control deficiencies through the development of a risks and controls matrix.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Create functional specifications and work closely with end-users to deliver business solutions.
  • Identify and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
  • Perform internal risk assessments under the direction of Internal Audit Management.
  • Assesses risks and internal controls by identifying areas of non-compliance; evaluating manual and automated processes; identifying process weaknesses and inefficiencies and technical issues.
  • Collect, process, "clean", analyze, and report on data from various internal and external applications and databases as well as other data sources when necessary.
  • Create process documentation, including process narratives and flow charts, to assist with audit planning and execution.
  • Identify, define, and implement process automation and/or workflow improvements.
  • Partner with internal clients to define action plans for deficiencies identified. Monitor completion of action plans and provide support when needed or requested by Audit Management.
  • Create audit program and testing procedures at the entity, process, transaction or application levels.
  • Evaluate accounting and/or technical documentation, previous reports, data, flowcharts, etc.
  • Train and develop data analytic skills within the Internal Audit team.
  • Standardize and automate data preparation and reporting.

Position Specifications


  • Professional certification(s) in data analytics preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, or related field required. Currently holds, or actively pursuing, an audit professional certification, such as CIA, CISSP, or CISA or equivalent audit credentials. Required to hold an audit certification(s) as condition of continued employment.
  • Three (3) years of experience in data analytics, audit or an audit-related function such as accounting, risk management, IT, or other business or operational position required. Advanced computer skills with various types of finance, accounting, database and analytics technologies, such as Query SAP, Oracle, Enterprise Data Warehouses and/or Data Lakes, and other audit software and databases such as Highbond/Galvanize -ACL / Analytics Exchange, SQL, etc. required.
  • Experience with payment systems and financial services related to the credit/debit card industry preferred.

  • Knowledge of financial institution regulatory standards such as NCUA, OCC, FFIEC, Nacha ACH, or related, a plus

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written formats, including good presentation and report writing skills
  • Ability to travel as needed, less than 25%
  • Recent experience (within the last 3 years) in advanced analytical and scripting skills, including some experience with Python, SQL, MS Access, Server Management Studio, Cognos Query Editor, Jupyter Notebook, or Oracle cloud databases
  • Strong understanding of financial services, systems, operational, and/or technology controls; knowledge of internal audit standards and practices; must have working knowledge of IT general controls
  • Advanced analytical and scripting skills, including some experience with Python, SQL, MS Access, Server Management Studio, Cognos Query Editor, Jupyter Notebook, or Oracle cloud databases
  • Strong Information Technology skills and working knowledge of SharePoint, a plus

Pay Equity


The Hiring Amount For This Position Based On Relevant Experience And Internal Equity; The Pay Range Is


PSCU is committed to pay equity and a competitive benefits package.


$61,700.00


to


$104,900.00


  • Note: The amount shown is based on full time annual salary and would be prorated based on role.


In addition this position is eligible for an incentive plan, based on performance.
