Job Description

Duties

  • Serves as a General Military Intelligence Analyst responsible for preparing assessments and briefings, and responding to requests for information to support Command Group on force allocation, force development, and force protection.
  • Fulfills exercise support and scenario validation functions.
  • Prepares and provides situational awareness and threat briefings for Command Group for deployments of reserve units, security assistance teams, Special Forces (SF) liaison elements, and other Army Special Operation Forces (ARSOF) elements.
  • Supports the Commands Crisis Response Center, when activated, for contingency response and conflict monitoring for the Command.
  • Provides current intelligence support to Major Subordinate Commands (MSCs) and Major Subordinate Units (MSUs) as required.

Conditions of Employment

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • May require Temporary Duty (TDY) travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance based on a T5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
  • Shift work may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience in 1.) intelligence-related research, analysis, collections and /or operations directly related to the preparation of General Military Intelligence (GMI) products AND 2.) preparing written intelligence assessment reports for supporting senior official decision making processes. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-11).

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

  • General Military Intelligence (GMI) Analysis

Progressively responsible experience is that which has included intelligence-related research, analysis, collections and /or operations. This experience should have included intelligence analysis and/or production, intelligence collection and/or operations, counterintelligence, or threat support directly related to the position to be filled. This experience should demonstrate: Knowledge of intelligence processes, cycle and organizations; Knowledge of and/or ability to use research tools such as library holdings, photographs, statistics, graphics and maps; Knowledge of the systems, procedures and methods of analyzing, compiling, reporting and disseminating intelligence data; and/or Knowledge of organization(s) for and methods of collecting and analyzing intelligence data.

NOTE: Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Be initially selected from an announcement that specifically stated that the individual could be eligible for noncompetitive conversion to a permanent DCIPS appointment at a later date; 2. Have completed at least two years of continuous service with at least a "Successful" overall evaluation of record; and 3. Be converted to a permanent DCIPS position in the same work level or grade for which hired.) This position may be converted to permanent without further competition after completion of five years of continuous service in this position.
