The Child Support Services (CSS) Division of Denver Human Services is currently seeking highly skilled applicants for the position of Child Support Technician I.
Child Support Services (CSS) partners with federal, state, tribal, and local governments, and others to promote parental responsibility so that children receive support from both parents, even when they live in separate households. Nationally, the child support program is one of the largest income-support programs for families, contributing money to family budgets to help pay for the basics: shelter, food, childcare, transportation, and school clothes. Child support makes a big difference to children. We strive to provide family centered services and are incorporating innovative strategies that improve the reliability of child support payments.

CSS will put children first by both parents assuming responsibility for the economic and social well-being, health and stability of their children. We recognize that children benefit from positive, ongoing relationships with both parents.
The Intake Child Support Technician I:
  • Conducts intake interviews assists clients with child support application, county declarations and request required ids and documents
  • Performs investigative research to verify or collect necessary information
  • Requests missing documentation and collect all necessary information for case processing, data entry and case transfer
  • Receive and review referrals, conducts systems research, and determine appropriate actions to initiate child support cases
  • Responds to questions providing accurate and comprehensive explanation around county, state and federal regulations, policies, procedures, or standards related to child support work and program
  • Effectively manages and resolves customer escalations while ensuring customer satisfaction and maintaining positive relationships
  • Collaborates with other agencies for eligibility and compliance purposes
  • Enter and maintains accurate client records in databases including demographic updates
  • Collaborates with Human Services Family and Adult Assistance Program employees to request noncompliance of benefits when a customer is nonresponsive
  • Reviews court orders and minutes for child support and court ordered medical information
  • Adheres to departmental policies and procedures, customer service standards, and compliance guidelines
  • Responsible for managing and maintaining a caseload
  • Determines the correct class, status, and category of cases
  • Collaborates with coworkers and clients from diverse backgrounds in an inclusive and equity-driven environment
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested
About You
Our ideal candidate has:
  • Bilingual experience preferred- able to read, write, and speak proficiently in both Spanish and English
  • Experience managing caseloads in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
  • Experience collecting protected personal information from a diverse customer population
  • Experience with ACSES and CBMS systems a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Microsoft Teams

Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
Experience Requirement: Four (4) years of experience performing office support work.
Education/Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirement.
License/Certifications: By position, requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.
Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.

Although our full pay range is included above, the budgeted hiring range for this position is $20.90 - $26.13 per hour based on relevant experience and other factors.
