The Insurance Verifier associate is responsible for entering, correcting and verifier all patient demographics and financial billing information in the practice management system and patient record.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create verification schedule of coverage for the month.
- Print schedule of the day.
- Handle add-on surgeries in the same manner.
- Enter insurance information in the computer.
- Answer the phones.
- Translate if applicable to assist at patient calls with any collector, if needed.
- Learn and understand the different practice management systems.
- Assist other departments with any copying, scanning, or other duties as applicable.
- Attend in-services and feedback sessions for updates on insurance changes, policy modifications, and discussion of current verification issues and goals.
- Print daily schedule and confirm all referrals/authorizations have been obtained and patient monetary responsibility is recorded on schedule.
- Shred all paperwork, which displays private patient information.
- Work closely with collectors and the supervisors regarding previous account balances, high deductibles (over $500) and special billing circumstances.
- Call insurance companies and to verify and complete all insurance information and benefits.
- Check if authorization is required by portals or calling insurance.
This is a remote position, allowing the Insurance Verifier to be based anywhere in the country. Candidate must be willing to work a Central Time Zone schedule Monday - Friday.
Successful candidate will pass a background check and drug screen.
Requirements
Education/Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the field or in a related area required.
- Knowledge related to Microsoft Excel and Outlook
- Knowledge related to reading an insurance EOB a plus
Other Qualifications:
Must be able to handle multiple, simultaneous tasks effectively and efficiently while maintaining a professional, courteous manner. Must be able to work well with others. Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Must be detail oriented and organized. High integrity, including maintenance of confidential information. Must be able to exercise good judgment and positively influence and lead others, including handling confrontations with poise and efficiency. Based on business need, the ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends as approved in advance.
