Role:

The Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) is a member of a multidisciplinary remote delivery of Instructional Systems Designers, graphic artists, and multimedia specialists focused on the analysis, design, development, and implementation of eLearning curriculums and courseware for APV customers. The customer for this work is the Fire and Emergency Services Division (FESD) of the Air Force Civil Engineer Center. FESD is responsible for developing and fielding certification and familiarization training for firefighting personnel across the Department of Defense. Duties:

The Instructional Systems Designer will:

  • Use modern courseware authoring tools to develop/update courseware (Adobe Captivate and Articulate Storyline/Rise)
  • Possess excellent communication/presentation skills and is a self-starter able to work with minimumsupervision.
  • Apply knowledge of instructional design to update the customer’s eLearning courseware or develop new courseware
  • Perform other duties asassigned.
  • Participate in Course Development activities with SMEs to develop online course outcomes, lesson objectives, course content, and design and develop interactive instructional resources
  • Work with team and subject matter experts to ensure Storyboards integrate appropriate textual and graphical elements of design within the constraint of the contract
  • Coordinate reviews of customer-furnished information at the start of each eLearning project
  • Adhere to design and editorial standards required by the company and/or client
  • Complete Front-End Analysis
  • Apply adult learning theories to develop ILT, VILT, and Online Learning programs
  • Provide constructive criticism and be solutions oriented
  • Conduct needs analysis and writing of storyboards
  • Contribute and participate in delivery team meetings scheduled by the PM
  • Align learning activities with learning outcomes
  • Report to the APV delivery team’s Program Manager (PM)
  • Use SharePoint and project management software (Jira) for collaboration, workflow, and document storage

Required Skills:

  • Strong practical knowledge of the ADDIE method of instructional design
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study or Associate’s degree in a related field of study with 5 or more years of ISD experience, isrequired.
  • Solid working knowledge of courseware development tools such as Storyline and/or Captivate
  • Clear experience applying adult learning theory and principles, instructional design theory/evaluation methods, and training techniques/technologies to support the design, development, and delivery of distance learningcourseware.
  • Comfortable with MS Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • Demonstrable experience using the ADDIE model for curriculum development and evidence of having worked with technical SMEs and/or course instructors to develop learning objectives and course content
  • Familiarity with common learning management systems such as Blackboard, Canvas, Moodle, etc.
  • Three (3) or more years of ISD experience; ISD experience in support of federal government contracts is aplus.

Certifications:

  • ISD and/or training-related certifications are a PLUS
