Overview


HGA, a leading national architecture, engineering, and interior design firm, has an exciting opportunity for a talented and enthusiastic Instructional Designer to join our Learning and Development department.


As an Instructional Designer at HGA, you will design and deliver innovative and engaging learning experiences that support the professional development of our employees across multiple offices and disciplines. Collaborating closely with the Director of Learning and Development, you will create high-quality training materials that align with our learning objectives and foster a culture of continuous learning and growth. This is a highly impactful, newly created role. Bring your passion for learning, zest for new ideas and curriculum design.


In This Role You Will


  • Take an active role in the oversight of our Learning Management System (LMS) and associated content maintenance;
  • Assist with identifying and implementing continuous enhancements to curriculum for ongoing improvement of the outcomes;
  • Develop and integrate multimedia elements, such as graphics, videos, and simulations, to enhance the learning experiences;
  • Apply instructional design principles, adult learning theory, and industry best practices to create effective and impactful learning content and experiences;
  • Other assignments as needed
  • Align learning experiences to firmwide L&D strategy, quality control content, and define clear learning objectives;
  • Utilize instructional design software and tools and other software to create engaging and interactive learning content;
  • Remain up to date with the latest trends and advancements in instructional design, learning technologies, and industry-specific knowledge relevant to HGA's practice areas;
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records of training materials, processes, and project-related information; and
  • Conduct thorough research as needed to gather content and ensure the accuracy, relevance, and applicability of training materials within the context of HGA's work;
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring adherence to project timelines, deliverables, and budget constraints;
  • Design and develop interactive and impactful learning solutions, including e-learning modules, instructor-led training materials, job aids, and multimedia assets, tailored to the specific needs of HGA across multiple subject areas;
  • Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of training sessions through needs assessments, evaluations, and feedback;


You Will Need To Have


  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in instructional design software and e-learning authoring tools.
  • Strong knowledge of instructional design methodologies, adult learning principles, and learning technologies.
  • Ability for occasional travel to our other offices up to 25%
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
  • Well versed in Microsoft Suite, PowerPoint, and A dobe Suite
  • Excellent listening, writing, and communication skills
  • Strong typing/transcribing skills (speed and accuracy)
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in instructional design, preferably in a corporate or professional services environment.
  • Proactive, resourceful, and collaborative.
  • Video production skills for creation and editing of learning modules. (Experience using Camtasia for editing is a plus)
  • Experience with learning management systems (LMS) and e-learning platforms.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to execute on multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with subject matter experts and stakeholders.
  • Strong visual graphics / layout skills
  • Ability to write scripts for educational content (storytelling)
  • Creative and innovative mindset with the ability to think critically, problem-solve, and adapt to evolving learning needs.


Additional Qualifications (value-add, Not Required)


  • Familiarity with the architecture, engineering, or interior design industry is highly desirable.
  • Experience with marketing, communications, and/or graphic design is a plus.
