Installation Crew Member Jobs

Installation crew members at the Palo Alto Art Center and are responsible for the professional oversight of exhibition objects in transit and on exhibition, and support for the presentation of Artist-in-Residence Program installations. Installation crew members work collaboratively in a team environment, reporting to the Lead Preparator and working closely with the Exhibitions Registrar, Guest Curators, and Director to present the Art Center’s nationally recognized exhibition program to the public.

Duties:

• Assist with ongoing exhibition maintenance, including gallery clean ups.
• Additional duties as assigned.
• Working with the Exhibitions Registrar, participate in the safe pick up and return of art objects on loan. May involve driving City vehicles for artwork transportation.
• Exhibition preparation, including artwork handling and installation, artwork packing and unpacking, painting and prepping exhibition spaces, label fabrication and installation, lighting and vinyl installation.
• Support artists creating site-specific installations at the Art Center.
• May provide limited installation support to the Public Art Program, including installation of artwork, prepping spaces, label fabrication and installation, and support for temporary and permanent public artworks.

Desired Qualifications:

• Background in professional art handling.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Schedule:

This is a part-time position, Monday through Friday, on-call and seasonal.
