Basic Qualifications

Education/Training:High school diploma or equivalent.

Skill(s):Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; research skills; proficient interpersonal relations and efficient communicative skills; PC skills; visual and auditory skills; ability to stand, sit, bend, reach, climb, and lift items weighing 50 lbs. or less.

Experience:A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in related positions or rail repair is required. Knowledge of the AAR office, field manuals, and railcar anatomy. Preparation of a Billing repair card (BRC).

General Responsibilities

• Inspector is responsible for visual inspection of the railcar as well as all AAR / FRA and customer requirements.
• Must have reliable transportation.

· Rail Car Repair(preform completed/in process repair inspections)

· Extensive Knowledge in welding fields(D15.1 railcar structure codes)

· Manufacturing (preform completed/in process repair inspections)

· Ability to read blue prints

· Industrial coatings applications

• Must be able to work in confined spaces.
• Abides by the current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the work place.

Essential Duties

• Generates an accurate estimate of the repairs required.
• Completes all required inbound forms.
• Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the company’s compliance with all regulatory requirements.
• Ensure photos are taken for support of repairs.
• Reports pertinent information to the immediate supervisor as requested.
• Ensure railcar is within the AAR / FRA requirements for interchange movement.
• Perform visual inspection of railcar.
• Ensure all customer requirements are met.
• Clear communication with customers and outside inspectors.
• Communicates with other team members to solve problems and provide instruction to quickly resolve production issues.

Work Environment

The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of conditions at the facility. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. The position regularly works near moving railcars and other mechanical equipment. In and outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and dirt.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
