Job Description
: Information Security System Administrator
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Information Security System Administrator to join our team. As an Information Security System Administrator, you will play a crucial role in monitoring, investigating, and reporting security breaches while ensuring our organization remains compliant with industry standards such as NERC CIP and NIST. You will work closely with the System Architect to review proposed changes and develop strategies to enhance the security posture of our systems and networks.
Responsibilities:
  • Implement changes to meet NERC CIP and NIST standards: Ensure compliance with industry standards such as NERC CIP (North American Electric Reliability Corporation Critical Infrastructure Protection) and NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology). Implement necessary changes and controls to align with these standards and participate in audits or assessments as required.
  • Investigate, document, and report security breaches: Conduct thorough investigations to identify the root cause of security incidents, document the findings, and prepare detailed reports to inform relevant stakeholders. Collaborate with the appropriate teams to remediate security incidents and implement preventive measures.
  • Research IT security trends: Stay up-to-date with the latest IT security trends, emerging threats, and industry best practices. Conduct research and analysis to assess the potential impact on our organization's security posture and make proactive recommendations accordingly.
  • Develop strategies to enhance security: Utilize your expertise in information security to develop and implement strategies, policies, and procedures to enhance the overall security of our organization's IT infrastructure. This includes assessing risks, defining security requirements, and implementing appropriate security measures.
  • Monitor networks for security breaches: Utilize advanced security monitoring tools and techniques to continuously monitor our networks, systems, and applications for potential security breaches and vulnerabilities.
  • Work with the System Architect to review proposed changes: Collaborate with the System Architect to review and assess the security implications of proposed changes to our systems, networks, and infrastructure. Provide recommendations and guidance to ensure that security controls are effectively implemented.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of NERC CIP and NIST standards and their practical implementation.
  • In-depth knowledge of security monitoring tools and techniques.
  • Experience investigating and documenting security breaches.
  • Familiarity with IT security trends, emerging threats, and industry best practices.
  • Strong understanding of network security concepts, protocols, and technologies.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) or CISM (Certified Information Security Manager) are a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven experience as an Information Security System Administrator or similar role.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and communicate effectively.
