Job Description

HUMAN RESOURCES (HR) BUSINESS PARTNER, Office of the Vice Chancellor (OVC), to manage a portfolio of HR functions and related projects within the OVC and assigned units (including Student Financial Services). Responsibilities include advising staff at all levels on HR matters; managing complex employee relations issues; providing policy interpretations; developing job descriptions and posting positions; advising on best practices for inclusive and equitable hiring, onboarding, and performance management; partnering on identifying training and development needs; providing input on strategic HR matters; ensuring compliance with HR and employment laws; creating and implementing employee morale and engagement initiatives, including management of the OVC rewards and recognition program and other OVC strategic initiatives.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: B.A.; at least four years of progressive HR experience; in-depth knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations related to HR; ability to handle sensitive confidential information and provide consultative support; initiative; excellent judgment; excellent organizational, event planning, analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills; ability to build trusted relationships with staff at all levels, listen to and process issues in an unbiased manner, and make sound recommendations; support for MIT’s commitment to providing an inclusive workplace that values differences; attention to detail; and proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and FileMaker.
