The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) will have responsibility for a broad range of human resources functions in support of MPC's Anacortes Refinery.


The HRBP’s primary role is to partner with organizational leaders to achieve their business objectives by providing guidance and input on employee/labor relations and development issues (including but not limited to business unit restructuring, workforce/succession planning, employee development/performance, staffing, investigations, championing diversity, equity, & inclusion initiatives, and HR policy administration and development). The successful HRBP acts as an employee champion and change agent. The HRBP will be expected to develop and maintain an effective level of business literacy related to their assigned client groups. The ability to build and foster business partner relationships, influence, impact change, and a strong drive for results are critical for this position.


This position belongs to a family of jobs with increasing responsibility, competency and skill level. Actual position title and pay grade will be based on the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Participate in local community relations activities. This may include community engagement, site emergency response efforts and on-call responsibilities.
  • Special HR projects in conjunction with day-to-day HRBP responsibilities.
  • Provide consultative support to assigned client groups regarding HR/employee relations/labor relations issues.
  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development).
  • Keep abreast of labor and employment laws, including applicable state laws; assures Company compliance with current laws/regulations and facilitates the investigation and resolution of any claims.
  • Participate in labor negotiations with Union as well as handling of grievances and arbitration preparation.
  • Deliver training related to Human Resources programs.
  • Implement HR strategies that support a high performing culture.
  • Engage in recruitment of college, experienced professional/technical and hourly personnel.
  • Promote and fosters diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace.
  • Provide guidance and input on business unit restructuring, workforce planning and succession planning.
  • Collects and analyzes information and recommends solutions and courses of actions.
  • Develop and maintain strong business relationships with assigned client group(s).
  • Provide HR policy guidance and interpretations, ensure consistent application of such policies.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Experience with hourly workforce preferred.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of relevant HR experience required, with HR labor relations experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree required, master's degree preferred.

  • Adapts seamlessly to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity and limited information and engaging clients to reach clarity.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to build good working relationships with internal clients and external partners.
  • Strong ability to work both independently and collaboratively to meet organization needs and goals.
  • Attention-to-detail, analytical and team oriented.
  • Advanced experience with relationship management (building healthy working relations and partnerships with all levels of employees.
  • High curiosity; eager to learn and understand a wide range of energy industry, business and creative subject matter.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and organization needs simultaneously and work effectively in a fast-paced, high-output environment.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications to include Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
