Job Description
Aethon Energy Operating LLC’s (“Aethon”) Health, Safety, Environmental (“HSE”) Advisor is responsible for the field-level support and coordination of health, safety, environmental programs, regulatory compliance, and social responsibility efforts for all operating areas.
DUTIES & JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Act in the capacity of both Operator Qualification administrator and the Drug & Alcohol program point of contact
  • Prepare reports for submission to supervisors, primary investigators and/or managers, which identify the potential environmental hazards and/or program discrepancies and provide recommendations for control and compliance
  • Implement strategies, initiatives, and procedures to ensure HSE & Social Responsibility (“SR”) compliance and minimize the Company’s risks and liabilities associated with HSE & SR issues
  • Ensure NORM surveys are conducted for the safe removal of non-hazardous and hazardous waste
  • Coordinate the purchase and issuance of personal protective equipment for the field. Perform calibrations of equipment, where required
  • Incident response and internal reporting, including required agency reporting
  • Interact and advise employees on environmental procedures and policies
  • Coordinate monthly safety meetings and training requirements with respective team
  • Conduct incident investigations and participate in the Root Cause Analysis
  • Perform hazard assessments, noise surveys, and recommend proper levels of personal protective equipment for employees and contractors working at the site
  • Facilitates Management of Change (MOC), Risk Assessments, and Pre-Start-up Safety Reviews (PSSR), where required
  • Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulatory requirements
  • Provide technical expertise and HSE & SR support for Drilling, Completions, Operations, pad and facilities construction activities
  • Ensure the facilities are operating within all environmental compliance permits and facilitate required sampling events when necessary
  • File operating areas’ annual Tier II reports and coordinate the update of Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) plans, where required
  • Pipeline integrity experience
  • All other duties as assigned
  • Use working knowledge of functions within the Incident Command System and National Incident Management System
  • Responsible for inputting and maintaining the records in the Company’s internal HSE & SR Tracking, Waste Disposal, and SDS Databases
  • Act as the field-level point of contact for requested audits, inspections, and oversight
  • Coordinate and conduct regular field HSE & SR audits and emergency response drills in order to satisfy compliance with regulatory agencies and corporate policies
Requirements
Education & Work Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in radiation safety, biological safety, industrial hygiene, occupational safety, process safety, emergency response, and/or environmental safety or equivalent
  • Bachelor's degree
Technical Skills & Knowledge:
  • Public communication skills
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the safety & environmental regulatory arena
  • Working knowledge of Pipeline, Hazardous Material Safety Administration CFR 192, Process Safety Management 49 CFR 1920.119, and 49 CFR 1910 and 1926 General Industry and Construction requirements
  • Working knowledge of computer systems including Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams and SharePoint, Internet, and web-based applications
Personal & Soft Skills:
  • Ability and willingness to take on assigned projects through completion and manage multiple tasks with competing priorities with a focus on detail
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Process-oriented, self-motivated person
  • Ability and willingness to respond to emergencies in hazardous environments on an on-call duty basis
  • Willingness to travel
Physical & Other Requirements:
  • Position requires a work balance between outdoor field work and working indoors in an office environment to complete task.
  • Successful candidate will be able to meet company standard background check specific to individual role prior to employment and will be subject to Company Drug & Alcohol Program
  • Must be fully authorized to work in the United States and have a valid driver’s license
