HR Generalist

Grandy Organics

Hiram, Maine (hybrid)


We are working with our client Grandy Organics in seeking a part-time (24+/- hours) HR Generalist, to support their Hiram, Maine based bakery team in a hybrid role.



Requirements of the HR Generalist:

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of employee and business information.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP a plus
  • Passion for the role of HR in creating a strong culture and foundation for company success.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with employees at all levels in the company.
  • Experience with ADP or similar payroll system helpful.
  • Ability to commute to Hiram, Maine office at least one day a week for staff engagement and meetings; and the ability to work effectively from a home office for the remainder of the time.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • 3+ years of experience in a human resources generalist or support role, preferably in a manufacturing environment with production shifts.

  • This part-time position will pay between $30 and $35 per hour depending on experience.



Responsibilities of the HR Generalist:

  • General Administration: Maintains all employee records and personnel files in compliance with state and federal recordkeeping requirements and ensures the confidentiality of employee records. Manages workers compensation and unemployment claims matters and represents the company in hearings, etc. as appropriate.
  • Safety: Partners with department managers to coordinate the safety program and provides guidance regarding employees with work restrictions.
  • Benefits and Payroll Administration: Works closely with the Director of Finance to coordinate the annual benefits open enrollment process, including employee communication and enrollment administration. Administers benefits enrollment/changes throughout the year and reviews benefits invoices for accuracy. Processes weekly payroll and maintain payroll system records.
  • Recruiting and Performance Management: Coordinate the recruiting, onboarding and orientation of new employees. Works closely with department managers to support completion of employee performance and compensation reviews in a timely manner. Ensure that job descriptions are accurate and up-to--date.
  • Employee Engagement: Maintains and coordinates the employee recognition and wellness programs. Conducts exit interviews and makes recommendations for improvements. Assists with employee events and communications to support company culture initiatives.
  • Employee Relations: Investigates and responds to employee relations matters and engages support/legal counsel as needed to mitigate company risk.
  • Policies and Compliance: Ensures that the Employee Handbook, labor law posters, etc. are current and compliant with local, state and federal regulations and that managers and employees receive training on company policies.
