The opportunity:
The Regional Human Resource Director will proactively engage and partner with the Consumer Packaging Operations team to develop an outstanding and high-performing work environment, facilitating specialized solutions for the markets we serve from branded and healthcare to pharmaceutical and Food and Beverage, among others. The operations group covers a broad spectrum of salaried and hourly employees in multiple operational locations.
Provides overall leadership and creates human capital strategies that support the vision and goals of the organization. Serving on the HR Consumer Operations leadership team for North America, this person will partner with the VP of operations and their teams. The overall scope of the role includes 10+ sites and 1,500+ employees.
How you will impact WestRock:
- Lead key initiatives and demonstrate strong collaboration with our COE partners in order to provide the very best employee experience.
- Connect the operations and sales teams, driving aligned communications and common understanding of our sales and operational plans/objectives.
- Champion a diverse and inclusive culture with positive employee engagement.
- Navigate external realities, bring outside thinking in and use trends and data to inform decisions and uncover new ideas / solutions.
- Support effective employee relations within the business by advising on the appropriate strategies.
- Develop and execute short-term and long-term plans to attract, develop and retain the talent and capabilities needed to exceed business goals.
- Inspire and lead the operations teams through various transitions and change in a dynamic and uncertain environment in order to achieve desired business outcomes.
- Lead, coach and develop a highly motivated and engaged regional human resource team identifying the right future capabilities for success.
- Promote ideas and lead change in the spirit of accelerating HR transformation efforts.
- Advise, consult and collaborate on current and future integration efforts.
- Regularly review organizational design and effectiveness and implement necessary actions to that align to the business strategy and key priorities.
- Deliver strategic thought leadership along with a high level of responsiveness and ability to roll up your sleeves and deliver operational plans.
What you need to succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field.
- Experience leading, coaching and developing diverse, high performing teams.
- Experience managing through activities such as: integrations, mergers and acquisitions as well as divestitures.
- Ability to travel (varies ~25-40%) while also demonstrating the ability to build strong relationships across a remote workforce and collaborate with teammates and COE partners across the global network.
- Experience with Microsoft Office products and HRIS software.
- Broad generalist experience with demonstratable skills in organizational development & planning, talent management, compensation & rewards, and employee relations.
- Prior experience within a high performing manufacturing environment beneficial.
- Proven business and financial acumen, able to establish credibility and influence functional leaders in the right ways.
- 10+ years human resources experience with a solid career progression
