HR Business Partner

MPX

Portland, Maine


We are working with our client MPX, a Maine Best Places to Work company, in hiring a Human Resources Business Partner to work from their Portland, Maine office and support approximately 100 employees at their facilities in Maine and Nashville, TN.


Requirements of the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP):

  • Practical decision-making ability in complex situations; ability to work independently and maintain professionalism in all situations.
  • Track record of effective consultation with all levels of leaders and employees in the organization.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and writing, as well as ability to determine most the effective communicate methods for various situations.
  • A positive attitude, resilience, and the ability to produce high quality results in a fast-paced client-focused environment.
  • Proficient with HRIS and ability to optimize HRIS for data collection for effective reporting and analysis.
  • HR Certification (SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification; PHR or SPHR) preferred.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, and policies.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) Knowledge of Smartsheet’s a plus.
  • Strong business literacy skills.
  • Proven ability to effectively coach employees and management through complex and difficult issues.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of progressively responsible experience in HR roles, including an advisory or generalist role.
  • Ability to develop meaningful trusting relationships at all levels within the organization to gain support and achieve results, including gaining support for new ideas, programs, or processes.

Responsibilities of the HRBP:

  • Organization Culture and Development: Works closely with management and employees to improve the work environment, build and strengthen the company culture, increase productivity, and improve employee retention.
  • Reporting/Analytics: Manages HRIS implementation and ongoing administration. Optimize HRIS to collect meaningful data to support ease of HR administration, reporting and analytics. Analyzes trends and metrics to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
  • Performance Management: Partners with managers and employees providing guidance on performance or employment related matters to support employee success. Designs and implements effective performance appraisal processes that facilitate effective performance discussions and optimize management and employee time and effort.
  • Talent Acquisition: Develops and implements a talent acquisition process to attract a diverse and qualified applicant pool, and an interview process that objectively evaluates candidates and ensures timely hires to support business needs. Manages relationships with staffing and recruitment firms to supplement internal efforts to find and place qualified candidates.
  • Compliance and Policy: Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of team members, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required. Monitors legislation and updates Employee Handbook as needed to reflect current laws and regulations.
  • Training and Development: Identifies company training needs and designs/implements or secures resources to provide approved training. Also assists leaders in employee development and career planning.
