This posting is for a Safety Professional to be located at the Dickinson Renewables Facility in Dickinson, ND. The successful candidate must be able to work closely with all departments and with personnel at all levels of the organization, including operations, maintenance, contractors, and other Safety Professionals in support of Marathon’s Health, Environmental, Safety, and Security programs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensuring OSHA regulatory compliance.
  • Supporting the refinery as a technical resource for safety issues including interpretation of standards and regulations, accident/incident investigations, and maintenance turnaround support.
  • Project, TAR and Outage support as well as rotational weekend duty as required.
  • Engaging in project related work by participating in the review and approval of plan development, Management of Change (MOC and PMOC) reviews and project safety plans.
  • Provides subject matter expertise for assigned programs, which may include providing input as a competent person for fall protection and excavation safety, support during Life Critical work and input on other regulatory programs.
  • Developing, coordinating, and presenting various Safety/IH training courses to refinery personnel.
  • Conducts auditing on safety programs to verify compliance and conformance with regulatory and MPC standards. This includes analyzing safety performance data to identify and report trends, along with proposing recommendations to address areas of concern.
  • Supports development, maintenance, and execution of safety programs for implementation in the field to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and conformance to MPC corporate standards.
  • Provides technical support of routine operations, project work, major maintenance or construction support, and emergency response to ensure worker safety throughout the planning and execution phases of work.
  • Develops safety related communications for inclusion into shift starter meetings, safety meetings, notices, and bulletins.
  • Develops and presents training material related to a variety of safety topics in collaboration with Operations and Learning Development departments.
  • Supporting the facility’s emergency response and air monitoring team efforts.
  • Conducting Contractor Field Performance Audits and meeting with contractors to communicate safety expectations and help them meet the Company expectations.
  • Providing guidance, interpretations, and technical assistance related to safety and health issues.
  • Leads and supports investigations for near-misses, incidents, and injuries to identify root causes and recommendations to prevent future incidents. Tracks recommendations to implementation to ensure completion.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products, SharePoint and competent with PowerBI.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety, Safety Management or Industrial Hygiene is preferred.
  • ASP or GSP and/or track for CIH certification is preferred.
  • Five years refining or related experience preferred.
  • Must be familiar with OSHA standards.
  • A valid drivers license is required.
Grade level determination for this role will be commensurate with education, experience, etc. Relocation assistance is available.
