  • Woodward 2 South is a specialized treatment setting serving the needs of patients with both mental illness and either acquired or traumatic brain injury (ABI/TBI). The unit has a census of fifteen patients. The unit works with the DMHAS ABT/TBI services division to return patients to the community in the most integrated setting possible.

  • SCHEDULE: Full-time, 40 hours per week, second shift, with the following work schedules:
  • UNITS: Addiction Services Division (
  • PCN 27348 - GPD, Battell 4 South: Nursing: 3:00pm - 11:30pm
  • Battell 4 South is an acute general psychiatric treatment unit with a maximum census of twenty-two patients. The unit provides psychiatric treatment and stabilization for individuals living with severe and persistent mental illness, with the goal of discharge to the community in the most integrated setting possible.
  • Days OFF: Saturday, Sunday, Thursday, Monday
  • PCN 27493 - GPD, Woodward 2 South: 3:00pm - 11:30pm
  • PCN 136718 - ASD, Merrit 3AB: 3:00pm - 11:30pm
  • ADDRESS: 1000 Silver Street, Middletown, CT
  • BH Acute is a co-ed withdrawal management unit providing care for American Society of Addiction Medicine/A.S.A.M. level. 4.0 and 3.7. This unit specializes in the treatment of patients with co-occurring disorders and serves up to 21 clients over the age of 18. A full range of medication-assisted treatment is offered.
  • PCN 107360 (*anticipated opening) - ASD, Merritt 4B: 3:00pm - 11:30pm
  • PCN 27422 - ASD, Blue Hills Acute: 2:45pm - 11:15pm
  • Merritt 3AB is a 30-bed rehabilitation unit providing American Society of Addiction Medicine (A.S.A.M.) level 3.7 intensive rehabilitation treatment. This unit specializes in trauma informed care, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and a variety of other clinical approaches to provide holistic care to the individuals we serve. A full range of medication-assisted treatment is also offered.
  • Days OFF: Saturday, Sunday, Thursday, Wednesday
  • Merritt 4B is a withdrawal management unit providing care for people requiring the most intensive level of addiction services (American Society of Addiction Medicine/A.S.A.M. level. 4.0 and 3.7.) This unit specializes in the treatment of patients with co-occurring disorders and serves up to 30 clients over the age of 18; offering a full range of medication-assisted treatment.
  • Battell 2 South is an acute general psychiatric treatment unit with a maximum census of twenty-two patients. The unit provides psychiatric treatment and stabilization for individuals living with severe and persistent mental illness, with the goal of discharge to the community in the most integrated setting possible.
  • Days OFF: Saturday, Sunday, Friday, Monday
  • Days OFF: Saturday, Sunday, Friday, Wednesday

About Us


DMHAS is a health care agency whose mission is to promote the overall health and wellness of persons with behavioral health needs through an integrated network of holistic, comprehensive, effective, and efficient services and supports that foster dignity, respect, and self-sufficiency in those we serve.


CVH is the largest of DMHAS facilities, and includes 17 inpatient units over two campuses (Middletown and Hartford). The hospital includes both a general psychiatry and addiction services units. CVH provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care and substance abuse treatment, including treatment for pregnant women and persons with dual diagnoses. Specialty areas include geriatric and special services, an integrated network of comprehensive mental health services for older adults and young adult services. The facility also runs the Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) program which addresses the needs of TBI survivors, including; reintegration into community living, independent living skills development, vocational and educational training, psychiatric, cognitive and neurological assessment and treatment, speech and physical rehabilitation as well as individual and family counseling.

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)


In a state agency this class is accountable for administrative and clinical supervision of professional nurses, paraprofessionals and other staff involving direct nursing care of patients/individuals or performing specialized professional nursing work in the areas of community or therapeutic nursing. At the State Universities or State Vocational Technical Schools this class is accountable for providing primary nursing care for students and facility staff.


EXAMPLES OF DUTIES


WORKING LEAD:


  • Schedules, assigns, oversees and reviews work;
  • Instructs staff regarding policies and procedures;
  • Leads professional and paraprofessional nursing staff in provision of patient/individual care;

Minimum Qualifications - General Experience


Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse


Minimum Qualifications - Substitutions Allowed


A Bachelor's degree in Nursing may be substituted for one (1) year of the General Experience.
