Job Title: Head Golf Coach
Campus Location: Morristown Campus (Employees are assigned to a “home” location but may occasionally or regularly be required to work at other WSCC locations.)
Job Purpose: The Head Coach oversees all aspects of the golf program; identifies, recruits, and retains top prospective student-athletes; establishes a competitive schedule and coordinates team travel; responds to media requests; and promotes the team; coordinates practice planning, skill development, and designs coaching strategies which prepare the team for competition; establishes and enforces rules of conduct as well as mentors student-athletes to foster athletic, academic, emotional, and social growth; collaborates with athletic and college departments’ admissions, financial aid, medical services, academic support, student-athletic services, compliance office; demonstrates adherence to college, conference, and NJCAA rules and regulations while overseeing activities of student-athletes to verify compliance with a clear mandate to self-report any violations; supports community service efforts by involving student-athletes.
Essential Job Functions:
Develop match schedules, team stats, team travel, and budget manager for (fall & spring) golf program.
Recruits athletes via email, phone calls, and traveling to various tournaments and golf matches to select talented golf players.
Develops daily practice plan for athletes including strength and conditioning training (fall & spring)
Fundraise for golf program.
May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in related field.
Working knowledge gained from experience running a successful golf program.
Strong communication skills and ability to persuade prospective athletes to attend WSCC.
Two or more years of coaching golf at the collegiate level.
Up-to-date knowledge of NJCAA, TCCAA, and appropriate TN Board of Regents’ policies and procedures.
Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to operate state vehicle.

Environment and Working Conditions: Requires working outside in varying weather conditions; frequent exposure to extreme temperatures, rain, snow, and humidity.
Physical Demands: (including requirements for travel or working nights/weekends/holidays)
Requires the ability to demonstrate proper golf swings.
Requires working some nights and weekends.
Requires extensive travel for recruiting and tournaments.
