Gwf Logistics General Manager

This is a leadership role in a newly established Non-Vessel Owing Common Carrier (NVOCC) company affiliated with Great White Fleet. This position requires a seasoned, self-motivated and results driven professional with excellent communication skills and deep experience in the NVOCC and Freight Forwarding industry. The General Manager will establish and lead the Non-Vessel Owning Common Carrier (NVOCC) business, reporting to the Director of Great White Fleet.
Responsibilities

• Assist management with special projects.
• Create and maintain appropriate standard operating procedures (SOP).
• Resolve issues with steamship lines, ports, container freight stations, and carriers.
• Implement import/export processes and procedures.
• Identify business opportunities with established customers while developing new markets.
• Oversee all documentation requirements including preparation of Shipper Export Declaration (SED/EEI), Ocean Bill of Lading (OBL) documents, import arrival notifications, and letters of credit.
• Develop and implement new product and service offerings to meet customer needs in alignment with their goals and objectives.
• Develop and execute sales strategy.
• Establish and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations including responsibility over the filing of rates with the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC)
• Negotiate carrier contracts and agency agreements.
• Establish and oversee pricing.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

• Must be able to prioritize and be detail oriented.
• Effective analytical and negotiating skills relevant to rating, pricing, and bookings.
• Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, International Business, Logistics or Sales related field. Relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Knowledge of Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) applicable laws and regulations.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Five (5) years of supervisory experience in the NVOCC ocean transportation industry including export and import documentation, coordinating inland trucking for LCL/FCL (Less/Full Container Load), cargo insurance, hazardous cargo, cargo consolidation/deconsolidation and rate filing with FMC.
• Familiarity with International Commercial Terms (INCOTERMS) and shipping terms.
• Must be able to communicate effectively in English and Spanish (verbal and written).
• Strong leadership ability.
• Proven ability to establish or enhance ocean import/export operational functions.
• Ability to work with limited supervision, multitask and possess strong initiative.
• Experience in preparation of Shipper Export Declaration (SED/EEI), Ocean Bill of Lading (OBL) documents, import arrival notifications.
• Knowledge of International applicable laws and regulations (Federal Maritime Commission, OFAC, Interstate Commerce Commission, U.S. Customs, etc.).
