b. Plans, designs and produces art work and event collaterals using a variety of modern techniques and media for such items as brochures, slides, print and electronic advertisements and social media posts, charts, graphs, flyers, and posters. E
c. Applies computer graphics in the production of art work including soft- and hardware management. E
d. Designs, lays out, prepares traditional and digital pre-press camera-ready artwork for offset printing, and determines the color and techniques of final products. E
e. Advises instructional and administrative personnel on various aspects of graphic arts projects which may include art media and timelines. E
f. Prepares photographs for print and display including mounting, laminating, retouch, size, crop, and scan. E
g. Coordinates projects with both in-house and outside printers. Creates final print-ready files to requested specs such as crop marks, bleeds, 2-up, 4-up for marketing, outreach, and promotional materials. E
h. Creates signage, banners, and backdrops using various media, styles, and sizes, including setting the backdrop up. E
i. Enhances appearance of printed materials by determining formats, typeface, type size and related design considerations in producing typeset material. E
j. Designs and develops department brand identities. Creates original designs and artwork for promotional materials. E
k. Photograph college events and maintains a digital graphic and photo archive. E

- Modern techniques, materials and equipment used in graphic design. Computer assisted design using graphic programs, such as Quark
- Graphic design, digital marketing, and social media management.
- Requirements and terminology for traditional and digital pre-press. High volume printing methods, both offset and web.
- Techniques related to the preparation of graphics for TV, multimedia including digital, and video.
- Electronic pre-press processes.
- Xpress, Illustrator, PhotoShop, Freehand Typography.
- Current designs and social media trends.
- Principles of marketing and public relations.
- Principles of color and design theories.
Ability to:
- Independently produce art work utilizing a variety of graphics materials and equipment.
- Determine coloring techniques.
- Work well in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with multiple projects.
- Create art work from scanned images, photographs, sketches and ideas. Design using typographical, illustrative and other related techniques.
- Work effectively and cooperatively with other personnel. Learn new innovations in the field of graphic design.
- Demonstrate relevant experience in graphic design, producing multimedia content, and content production for social media.
Any degree from a country other than the United States, including Canada and Great Britain, must be evaluated by an Evaluation Service prior to the closing date. Certification must be attached with copies of transcripts.
- Work includes indoor and outdoor environment; subject to heavy manual labor involving lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling and exposure to high voltage.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, and twist.
