Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE
At New Story, we believe a home is the foundation for a flourishing life. That’s why we're on a mission to house 1 million people by 2030 and fundamentally change the market and social structures keeping families out of safe housing today.

As a strategic fundraising professional, you will be responsible for supporting the creation of New Story’s institutional giving program. You will manage relationships with existing funders, meet all grant reporting requirements, and keep funding partners engaged and excited about our work. You will also help grow this revenue stream for New Story by finding and cultivating new prospective funders, and successfully securing major commitments. In partnership with fundraising leadership, you will powerfully communicate program impact, own the grant-writing, management, and reporting processes, and build/maintain excellent relationships.

In this entrepreneurial role, you will be charged with creating new and improving existing processes and structures to support the success of our institutional giving program. For example, you will be critical to determining how the fundraising team works best with the Impact team to secure transformative funding while also protecting the integrity of New Story’s mission.

This position is part of New Story’s fundraising team and will work in close collaboration with all staff and subject matter experts. You will report directly to our Director of Strategic Partnerships.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Coordinate submission of all required reporting and documentation on funded grants and contracts
  • Coordinate requests for site visits and other activities requested by funding partners and assist in the preparation for these activities
  • Bring together stakeholders from across the organization to fulfill all grant monitoring, evaluation and reporting requirements from funders
  • Ensure effective development operations and drive fundraising best practices by building and/or refining the appropriate systems, tools, data collection, and processes to support continued funding, as well as upholding all policies related to prospect management and data health
  • Continuously evaluate how to optimally position New Story to potential institutional funders through strategic planning
  • Project manage and/or own all aspects of the grants management cycle: research prospective funders, write/prepare/submit grant applications, coordinate due diligence requests, gather all required documentation
  • Manage all grant timelines and deliverables
  • Collaborate with the Impact team to develop and implement grant objectives, activities, and KPIs
  • Attend all meetings with Impact and Finance teams that relate to current or prospective grant opportunities
  • Develop, prepare grant budgets, in collaboration with Impact and Finance teams

WHO YOU ARE

  • Spanish language proficiency required
  • Prior grant-writing and grant management experience required, with strong preference for working with funders who are focused on market systems development (MSD, M4P), housing, Latin America, or global poverty alleviation
  • 5 years of successful nonprofit/NGO fundraising experience with a focus on foundations, organizations, and institutional funding - securing 5 and 6 figure gifts is commonplace for you
  • Ability to express ideas clearly, effectively, and persuasively, both orally and in writing; strong editing skills
  • Strong project management skills; highly organized, excellent attention to detail and time management skills
  • Self-motivated and task-oriented, with the ability to work independently and effectively maneuver between multiple tasks and responsibilities
  • Ability to inspire and hold accountable diverse internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong research, analysis, and critical thinking skills
  • Experience with government grant-making preferred
  • Ability to work on a multicultural team, across lines of difference
