GENERAL FUNCTION:
Develop, retain and expand client relationships strategically driving revenue / asset growth derived from the suite of Global Trade products. The product suite includes Traditional Trade, Receivable Financing and Supply Chain Finance. Approximately 70-80 percent of this function is spent customer facing. Expand visibility of Fifth Third Bank and its Global Trade Finance Solutions function internally and externally.
The role is responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collaborate and develop effective strategies with RM’s and other internal partners to enhance relationships, grow assets and increase profitability Bancorp wide.
  • Meet and Exceed revenue targets for new and existing clients by proactively originating / closing Global Trade and Supply Chain Finance opportunities.
  • Work closely with PMs within the GTB group and Bancorp-wide to obtain appropriate approvals for client and prospect proposals, and credit requests.
  • Review CAM’s, deal memos, terms sheets etc for content and accuracy.
  • Attend One Bank and team meetings within assigned Lines of Business regularly to forge effective relationships with RMs internally and business drivers externally.
  • Represent the bank at public and customer functions in a speaking and presentation capacity, recognized as a leader in the field of Trade.
  • Analyze due diligence data to define Supply Chain Finance structures, proposal and credit requirements to lead C-suite and client team engagements
  • Support related stakeholders, such as Trade Services, Operations, Accounting, Legal, Compliance, IT, Credit and others, through collaborative interaction when needed.
  • In cooperation with Trade Management, interact with government agencies such as Ex-Im Bank, OPIC, private insurers, the Fifth Third Syndication Desk, third party funding sources and other partners to structure solutions.
  • Actively partner with and refer business Bancorp wide
  • Assist Global Transaction Banking Sales Officer with guidance regarding evaluation, structuring and administration of complex Trade solutions.
  • Participate in relationship reviews, identify strategic trade and supply chain finance objectives with clients/prospects; produce needs assessments including how Fifth Third can address client needs directly or indirectly. Engage in prospect profiling and qualifying opportunities. Work with RMs and their respective PMs to integrate Trade into dialogue with clients, and into credit processes and approvals.
  • Conduct independent and joint client calling to provide Global Trade solutions and technical expertise.
  • Champion new product development by seeking and working with management to structure client-derived opportunities for new and more diverse application of trade, supply chain finance and international credit skills.
  • Work collaboratively with Credit partners to structure trade solutions for clients and prospects.
  • Develop and advocate proposals for the appropriate extension of credit, working with Global Trade Structuring /Administration and Credit partners in meeting business objectives.
  • Maximize the visibility of, and educate those within assigned Lines of Business about, Global Trade and related products.
  • Identify and escalate challenges to ensure compliance with all regulatory policies and procedures
  • Achieve continuous improvement of effectiveness through regular attendance of training, formal and informal, in complementary subject matter and skills.
  • Work collaboratively with the Global Trade Structuring and Administration team for preparation of proposals, deal memos and presentations. Deliver proposals, gain customer agreement on terms and conditions.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
May include direct or indirect supervision and direction of the day-to-day activities of junior Global Transaction Banking sales professionals. Promote mentoring within the team to facilitate skill development. Identify and promote paths for advancement of qualified team members. Provide employees and key internal partners with timely, candid, and constructive performance feedback. Develop employees to fullest potential and provide challenging opportunities that enhance career growth

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • Ability to Travel 70 to 80 percent of the time
  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree (Masters in an International discipline preferred).
  • Strong communication, inter-personal and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage deal coordination across various markets and LOB’s
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory policies and procedures
  • In lieu of degree and credit experience, 15 years banking experience, 10 in international trade finance operations and sales and strong exposure to and applied understanding of commercial credit analysis and structuring. Foreign language strongly preferred.
  • 10 years banking experience, with a minimum five years in international trade finance and five years of commercial credit, some of which preferably will have involved management of trade sales.
  • In-depth technical understanding of all Global Trade and Supply Chain Finance suite of products
