GENERAL PURPOSE


Serves on the Global Lifestyle New Product Development team as Program Manager. Coordinates product development activities from Exploration through Commercialization. Serves as the key source of information management for the MillerKnoll Product Development Process. Delivers in-depth project and program plans including project schedules, budgets, risks, changes, and resource allocations to ensure clear understanding and communication between team members and department stake holders across the globe.


Essential Functions


  • Develop and communicate reports that measure project performance related on-time, on-scope and on-budget project delivery.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.
  • Prepare regular project communications or presentations to key stakeholders and the executive team, including project timing/launch dates, resource constraints and potential conflicts that could impact deliverables, dates, overall schedules, etc.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.
  • Assist with trade-off analysis on program objectives to include aesthetics, functionality, cost investment, and schedule to guide team decision-making.
  • Plan, initiate and maintain project schedules; identify standard project phases, milestones, actions and goals and synchronize them with corporate, market and sales objectives.
  • Coordinate product development projects through all phases of execution from inception to production readiness.
  • Understands and adheres to policy and objectives for, and commitment to, quality.
  • Work with appropriate departments (e.g. Engineering, Marketing, etc.) to coordinate sub activities of new product development projects (i.e. prototype builds, CAR's, BIFMA testing, photography or sales samples).
  • Contribute to the on-going effort to create a world-class Lifestyle R & D structure and process to include evaluation of appropriate structure (internal and external), tools, and processes to be deployed as well as facilitation of lessons learned experiences.
  • Work with Consumer and Contract channels, Product Management, Creative Direction and Marketing to be aware of any commitment/dates made to sales and/or customers from a marketing standpoint that impact project schedules.
  • As a member of the cross disciplinary NPD core team facilitate a heightened level of understanding, communication, interaction, collaboration, coordination and problem solving between departmental stake holders using the MillerKnoll Global NPC process.

Education/Experience, Licenses And Certifications, Skills And Abilities


  • Must be able to perform all essential functions of the position with or without accommodations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple time-sensitive projects simultaneously.
  • Requires accuracy, initiative, business familiarity, adaptability and tenacity to persevere in challenging assignments.
  • Three or more years' experience in product development process preferred.
  • Strong analytical, personal organizational and time management skills; self motivated and self directed.
  • Four to six years of successful project management experience, ideally within the furniture or medical equipment industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use office automation, communication, software and tools currently being used in the MillerKnoll office environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills required.
  • Strong leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to influence multiple disciplines without a direct reporting relationship and multiple levels within the organization.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Design, Business or a related field.
