Position Summary


The Global Innovation Manager serves a critical role in supporting the delivery of innovation for a designated category of brands (Women’s Shave, Men’s Shave, or Sun) that will transform portfolios and drive future growth for the Company. This role collaborates closely with Business Units (the BU’s, incl Canada) and Brand Strategy Int’l (BSI) to develop and execute the product pipeline, manage NPD development projects, partners with Global Consumer Insights and R&D to uncover breakthrough insights and trends to feed idea generation for more transformative innovation. This role reports to the Sr. Global Innovation Manager for the category.


Accountabilities


Roadmap & New Product Development


  • Provides analysis of post launch performance against launch approval metrics and corrective actions.
  • Key member of a cross-functional product development team primarily responsible for new product development.
  • Collaborates directly with the Innovation Managers in the Business Units (BU’s) and BSI on Roadmaps for the designated category while providing global perspective.
  • Manage the development of short term (<2yrs) Cosmetics, Line Extensions and Adjacency concepts requested by the BU’s and BSI that are pre-aligned with the Product Strategy Committee.
  • Supports the needs of the Product Strategic Committee for the Category in alignment of priorities
  • Responsible for executing NPD roadmap projects from product development through product delivery (excluding Commercial Innovation)
  • Will assist in managing Next Generation and Transformational Innovation in coordination with the BU’s & BSI, including ideation, concept testing, feasibility work, product development, claims, business plans (e.g. forecasts, P&L), and packaging structure.
  • Manage Speed team efforts, involving regional BU innovation leaders, whenever acceleration would be needed
New Insights & Ideation
  • Collaborate and guide BU’s and BSI on product claims (creative and technical) while expanding availability of use (through claims bank)
  • Supports in the development of category level demand spaces to fuel longer-term strategies and innovations.
  • Partner with Global Consumer Insights partner to develop and execute the annual Learning Plan
  • Partners with Global Consumer Insights to drive idea generation for next gen and transformational innovation that will generate new opportunities that fuel the innovation pipeline.
  • Guide the development of consumer insights and action on trends to inspire the Regions and inform the 2+ year roadmap.
  • Writes concepts for new product development idea exploration and co-leads concept testing with Global Consumer Insights.
Required Education, Skills And Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience developing and implementing marketing strategies to drive brand growth having supported a brand in a global or commercial organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a concentration in Marketing
  • Direct experience in new product development.

  • Highly skilled at providing cross-functional team leadership, fully capable of accomplishing tasks independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); must be able to create engaging reports and presentations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, ability to articulate in a clear and concise manner across various levels of the organization.
Working Relationships
  • Key relationships internally will include working with other brand commercial and global marketing colleagues and cross-functional team members including R&D, Program Management, Global Consumer and Product Insights, Procurement, Sales, and Finance. External engagement will include advertising agencies and market research partners.
Work Environment
  • Some travel may be required
  • Ability to sometimes work outside of traditional business hours to work with global partners in different time zones.
The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $180,000. The actual base salary offered to a candidate may vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance.
